I. Direction: Explain the following statements comprehensively.


1. What is Research?
 ANSWER: Research is a systematic investigation or study of theory or real life
scenario that is needed to find a fact or relevant answers. It is design to establish
facts and reach new conclusions into something or real life happening that is
needed to answer for.

2. What is Research Problem?


 ANSWER: The research problem is like a heart or brain of a research that is the
statement that suggested for conducting the investigation of the research itself. It’s
the idea of the content that is needed to find answers to, a statement about an area
of concern, a condition to be improved, a difficulty to be eliminated, or a
troubling question that exists in literature, in theory, or in practice that points to
the need for meaningful understanding and deliberate investigation.

3. Why do researchers must also observe gaps in existing scholarly literature, theories,
and practices?
 ANSWER: Because by identifying gaps, it also determine how the evidence falls
short as well as it provides a better understanding of the body of evidence.

4. Differentiate external criteria and availability of the subjects.


 ANSWER: The external criteria basically required new information or new
question or “newness” in research problem itself, whereas, the availability of
subject is already existing or already at the target subject that is just needed to
conduct further investigation to find a new and precise answer.
5. Differentiate existing literature and research gap.
 ANSWER: The existing literature is the background of the research that the
researcher is conducting, while the research gap is the problem, issues or
questions by the previous research that has not been addressed or understood by
people/readers.
II. Direction: Using a table, enumerate and explain comprehensively the six (6)
components of Rationale of the Study.

1. Research Gap Simple the purpose of the study, the reason
why the specific study is needed to be conduct
for.
2. Proof of Urgency It is like the deadline of the research, simple
the urgency to finish or solve the problem on
the research in a timely manner.
3. Existing Literature The already existing background of the
research that the researcher is conducting,
4. Critical Background/Contextual It is the identification and description the
Information history and nature of a well-defined research
problem with reference to the existing
literature.
5. Research Goal/Objective The purpose or the objection or the goal of the
research, the reason why a certain research is
being conducted.
6. Relevance to Local/Global Context It is the community itself either individual,
students, family, school, or even the country,
so basically they are the readers of the
research, so the research must be relevance or
understandable to the local/global context.
