Mistral Strategic Objectives

• Establish strategic posture and image of continuous innovation

and technical skillness to increase share without price erosion in a
flat market
– Strengthen Eurosets image as a player in cardioplegia, “one
who continues to invest and innovate”.
– Launch as new Eurosets cardioplegia heat exchanger,
combining customers’s requests and on cumulative R&D
experience.

• Provide an opportunity (e.g. a great new “story” to tell, an

excellent heat exchanger) to attack competitive and existing
accounts and thus drive incremental sales through excellent
execution of sales activities (supported by effective materials,
communication,..)

• The device that will allows Eurosets growth in cardioplegia

marketplace.

• Vision and Alimunium coil will remain available up to end 2009,

positioned at a lower prices (10%) than Mistral.

Key Differentiating Attributes

Truly Distinctive Rationale/Supporting evidence Benefit

Attributes
Superior and efficient Lab. Test*: the highest heat Provides superior heat
heat transfer exchange combined with the transfer for every
lowest surface area cardioplegia procedure
Customers**: perceive superior Reduces foreign surface
heat exchange as key area exposure
differentiator

Low priming volume Lab.Test*: lowest adult oxy priming High performance with low
volume volume.
Customers**: perceive lower
circulating priming volume

Advanced design Lab.Test*:dedicated bubble trap Reduces microbubble

and blood path design that allows activity risks
very effective purge Ease of use
Customers**: innovative concept ,
ease of use

*Lab.Test: Eurosets internal laboratory tests

**Customers: feedback collected during Pre-Market test
Heat Exchanger Performance
MISTRAL’S PATENTS

New Heat Exchanger

Patented pipes configuration: for enhancing
the heat exchange performance with a
very low foreign surface in contact with blood.
The fluid dynamics design assure a very effective
air evacuation.

New design
Blood flow fluid dynamics optimization:
Patented blood inlet: for smoothly convey the
blood toward the heat exchanger
Patented water in and out independent
connectors:
safe easy and fast connection even in
emergency situations

The Agile coating, not heparinic, is intended to create a not
rilevable foreign surface by the physiologic body contact surface
mechanism.

This happen thanks to the Biomimesys concept, thus simulating,

the surface of all cells membrane, using a common component: the
Phosphorylcoline.
