MODAL VERB:WOULD

Would is an auxiliary, that is, it does not have a complete meaning on its own: it
needs another verb to make sense in a sentence.

USES:
1.For polite requests and offers in interrogative sentences.
2.To express our wishes.
3.To form the future of an action that takes place in the past.
4.To build conditionals- Second conditional

STRUCTURE:
-INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE: WOULD+SUBJECT+INFINITIVE VERB+TO
VERB+COMPLEMENT?
1.WOULD LIKE-For polite requests and offers in interrogative
sentences:Para peticiones y ofrecimientos corteses en oraciones
interrogativas.
-¿Te gustaría comer pollo esta noche?: Would you like to eat chicken for dinner?

STRUCTURE: PAST SIMPLE + FUTURE WITH WOULD

3.To form the future of an action that takes place in the past: Para
formar el futuro de una acción que se desarrolla en el pasado.
-Stefanny me dijo que ella vendría mañana: Stefanny told me that she would
come tomorrow.
-Ustedes pensaban que yo traería la torta: We thought that I would bring the
cake.
-Nakari soñó que iría a París en su cumpleaños: Nakary dreamed that she would
go to Paris for her birthday.
-Stefanny hizo un dibujo y le gustaría pintarlo esta noche: Stefanny draw a
drawing and she would like to paint it this night.
*Stefanny:

1.They traveled to México and they would like to travel to other ñcountries.

Estructura gramatical del second conditional

Opción 1: If(Sí) + Condición (oración con verbo conjugado en past simple)

+ would + resultado (oración con verbo en infinitivo).

Opción 2: Resultado (oración con verbo en infinitivo) + would + if +

Condición (oración con verbo conjugado en past simple).

For example:

1. If I won the lottery, I would buy a house (Sí me ganara la lotería, me

compraría una casa).
2. You would speak Japanese if you lived in Japan (Tú hablarías japonés si
vivieras en Japón).

3. If I studied more, I would pass the exams.

4. If I went to the bakery, I would eat bread.

5. If I were rich, I would travel around the world.

6. I would be with you if you were a good person.

7. I would visit you if you were sick.

8. If you were sick, I would visit you.
