The Clematis Wristlet - Cork Version

SUPPLIES: SEWING TIPS:
Exterior fabric: Backstitching: Backstitching is sewing in
forward and reverse over the same set of stitches to lock them

Seam Allowance: Seam allowance is always
3/8” (10 mm) unless specified otherwise. For zipper
Notions and supplies: installation, seam allowance is 1/4” (6 mm). Topstitching is
1/8” (3 mm) from the edge. All seam allowances are included
9” of zipper tape in pattern pieces.

PATTERN PIECES:
Print out pattern pieces using Adobe Reader on regular 8.5” x 11” size paper with scaling set to “Actual Size.” You will need to
tape together both EXTERIOR TOP pieces and both BOTTOM BAND pieces at the centre lines with matching symbols. Do not
overlap symbols. Butt lines and tape together.

INTERFACING:

6. Slip one end of the WRIST STRAP through the D-ring

to step 10. Please note that all diagrams show the version
with the BOTTOM BAND.
7. Fold both EXTERIOR TOP pieces in half vertically, RST,
and mark the top and bottom centre on the WS. Fold both
EXTERIOR BOTTOM pieces in half vertically, RST, and mark
the top centre on the WS.

13. Topstitch the top edge of the SLIP POCKET, sewing the 3”
opening shut.

8. Line up the bottom centre mark of one EXTERIOR TOP


with the top centre mark of one EXTERIOR BOTTOM, RST,
and clip together.

14. Place your SLIP POCKET RS up on one LINING piece

zipper. Do not topstitch yet.

Repeat steps 17 to 19 to attach the remaining exterior and


lining pieces to the other side of the zipper.

17. Pin your zipper RS up along the top curved edge of one
LINING piece. That LINING piece should also be RS up
making sure the centre mark of your zipper is aligned with the
top centre mark of the LINING piece. Your pull should be on
the left. Baste the zipper in place with 1/8” seam allowance.

20. To topstitch, start at the open end of the zipper along one
set of exterior/lining pieces and backstitch. Then topstitch
along the zipper seam allowance until you reach the zipper
tab at the closed end of the zipper. Rotate and sew across the
zipper tab until you reach the zipper seam allowance for the
other set of exterior/lining pieces. Topstitch along the zipper

backstitch again.

18. Take one of your assembled exterior panels and place it


RST with the LINING panel with attached zipper and clip in
place. Sew through all the layers with 1/4” seam allowance,
making sure to backstitch.

23. Trim your seam allowance except at the opening at the
bottom of your LINING pieces. Turn your bag RS out. Fold

21. Place the D-RING STRAP along one side of an


exterior panel about 1/2” from the top edge of the panel.
Leave 1/2” of the D-RING STRAP stick out past the side of the
exterior panel and baste in place with 1/4” seam allowance.

22. Open up your zipper at least half way and then pin/clip
both LINING panels RST and both assembled EXTERIOR
PANELS RST. To have a nice end result, make sure that
the seams where your EXTERIOR BOTTOMS are attached
to your EXTERIOR TOPS are aligned as well as the zipper
seams in the middle. You will want the zipper seam allowance
to point towards your lining. Sew all the way around but leave
a 4” opening at the bottom of your lining to turn your wristlet
RS out.
