forward and reverse over the same set of stitches to lock them

3/8” (10 mm) unless specified otherwise. For zipper
Notions and supplies: installation, seam allowance is 1/4” (6 mm). Topstitching is
1/8” (3 mm) from the edge. All seam allowances are included

Print out pattern pieces using Adobe Reader on regular 8.5” x 11” size paper with scaling set to “Actual Size.” You will need to
tape together both EXTERIOR TOP pieces and both BOTTOM BAND pieces at the centre lines with matching symbols. Do not
overlap symbols. Butt lines and tape together.

INTERFACING:

6. Slip one end of the WRIST STRAP through the D-ring

longer sides with 1/8” seam allowance.

and fold the strap in half so the raw edges meet. Make sure
the side with the raw edges at the centre are encased in the
middle. Baste raw ends together.

shorter end of the WRIST STRAP piece and place it over top
this 1” portion so it is overlapped about 1.25”. Sew in place
with a box of stitching.
EXTERIOR ASSEMBLY:
If making the BOTTOM BAND VERSION, otherwise, skip
to step 10. Please note that all diagrams show the version
with the BOTTOM BAND.
7. Fold both EXTERIOR TOP pieces in half vertically, RST,
and mark the top and bottom centre on the WS. Fold both
EXTERIOR BOTTOM pieces in half vertically, RST, and mark
the top centre on the WS.

8. Line up the bottom centre mark of one EXTERIOR TOP
with the top centre mark of one EXTERIOR BOTTOM, RST,
and clip together.

9. Sew together, making sure to backstitch. Clip seam
allowance, then finger press towards EXTERIOR BOTTOM.
Topstitch seam allowance.
Repeat steps 8 and 9 for second EXTERIOR BOTTOM
AND EXTERIOR TOP.
LINING ASSEMBLY:
10. Fold both LINING pieces in half vertically, WST, and mark
the top centre on the RS.

11. Pin both SLIP POCKET pieces RST. Sew together,
leaving a 3” opening along the top for turning the pocket RS
out. Make sure to backstitch.
12. Trim seam allowance to 1/8” EXCEPT at the 3”
opening at the top. Turn your SLIP POCKET RS out and press
your seams. Fold in the raw edges at the 3” opening so the
top edge is straight and press.

13. Topstitch the top edge of the SLIP POCKET, sewing the 3”
opening shut.

14. Place your SLIP POCKET RS up on one LINING piece
also RS up, centering it nicely and then pinning in place. Sew
in place by starting at the top right edge about 1.5 inches from
the right hand edge of the pocket. Continue sewing as shown
in the diagram and then sew 1.5 inches of the top edge from
the left side as well. Make sure to backstitch at the beginning
and end.
FINAL ASSEMBLY:
15. Take one ZIPPER TAB and place a small amount of fabric
glue on the WS. Fold in half along the 1” side and slip the
closed end of the zipper tape in between the layers. Use clips
to hold in place until glue dries. Topstitch zipper tab with 1/8”
seam allowance from the edge near the zipper.
Trim away excess ZIPPER TAB so it is the same width as
the zipper tape. Mark the centre of the zipper at 4.5” from
either end.

16. Take your 9” zipper and curve the zipper tape at the open-
ing outwards at a 90 degree angle and baste in place. Make
sure you’ve angled them at the exact same position on both
sides of the zipper teeth.
 19. Finger press the exterior and lining pieces away from the
zipper. Do not topstitch yet.

Repeat steps 17 to 19 to attach the remaining exterior and

lining pieces to the other side of the zipper.

17. Pin your zipper RS up along the top curved edge of one
LINING piece. That LINING piece should also be RS up
making sure the centre mark of your zipper is aligned with the
top centre mark of the LINING piece. Your pull should be on
the left. Baste the zipper in place with 1/8” seam allowance.

20. To topstitch, start at the open end of the zipper along one
set of exterior/lining pieces and backstitch. Then topstitch
along the zipper seam allowance until you reach the zipper
tab at the closed end of the zipper. Rotate and sew across the
zipper tab until you reach the zipper seam allowance for the
other set of exterior/lining pieces. Topstitch along the zipper
18. seam allowance until you reach the opening of the zipper and
backstitch again.

18. Take one of your assembled exterior panels and place it

RST with the LINING panel with attached zipper and clip in
place. Sew through all the layers with 1/4” seam allowance,
making sure to backstitch.

 23. Trim your seam allowance except at the opening at the
bottom of your LINING pieces. Turn your bag RS out. Fold
FOLD OVER SO THEY in the bottom edges at the opening in the LINING and press.

Sew shut either by hand or with your sewing machine. Attach
your wristlet strap’s swivel to the D-Ring.

21. Place the D-RING STRAP along one side of an

exterior panel about 1/2” from the top edge of the panel.
Leave 1/2” of the D-RING STRAP stick out past the side of the
exterior panel and baste in place with 1/4” seam allowance.

22. Open up your zipper at least half way and then pin/clip
both LINING panels RST and both assembled EXTERIOR
PANELS RST. To have a nice end result, make sure that
the seams where your EXTERIOR BOTTOMS are attached
to your EXTERIOR TOPS are aligned as well as the zipper
seams in the middle. You will want the zipper seam allowance
to point towards your lining. Sew all the way around but leave
a 4” opening at the bottom of your lining to turn your wristlet
RS out.
