) Organizational Development Effectiveness: Does It


Really Work? - We have discussed some of the key approaches utilized by organizational development
practitioners to improve organizational functioning. It is obvious that implementing these strategies will
take a significant amount of time, money, and effort. As a result, it is reasonable to wonder whether this
investment is profitable. To put it another way, does OD actually work? Given the prominence of OD in
organizations, this is a critical question. Is it inherently unethical to work on organizational
development? A Debate - By definition, OD employs sophisticated social science tools to influence
attitudes and behavior. Such tools are immediately recognized as very valuable from the perspective of
a management striving to achieve various aims.
