Birth - She fell in love with Jose Rizal when she was five years old and she was inspired by his love who
was sentenced to death. Her father passed away when she was only two years old.

Growing up - As she grew older she became more interested in books. She devoted her time to creating
works of writing, such as her first corrido which she composed when she was ten years old.

As a lady - She became a fine lady when she was 18 years old, but her mother forbade her from
producing more types of writing and her mother soon wanted her to marry. She agreed to marry the
man out of obedience to her mother but with one condition that she would publish a novel within a
year. She remain single and wrote 37 novels, 5 autobiographies, 8 narrative poetry, 6 corridos, 10 plays,
213 lyric poems, 132 short tales, 9 essays and 10 melodramas.

At 75 - According to historian Lucila Hosillos her most mature novel was written when she was 75 years
old. She wrote about Juanita a binukot of her family and a treasure cherished by her father as she was
conscious of Jaro's decaying wealth. Elias is a poor choirmaster became her love. Magdalena wrote
about an unwavering love for a country that found golden meanings in its centuries of feasts whether it
was filial, agape or eros.

At 80 - Magdalena was 87 years old when she died. She is still the Hiligaynon literature's reigning queen.
No one knows if she ever fantasized about being a reina or attending the Candelaria feast or if she
imagined Jose Rizal accompanying her down the plaza.

3.

Jalandoni's mother used to tell her stories as a child and I believe this is one of the main reasons she
became a writer. her first love was Jose Rizal a novelist who may have motivated her to pursue a career
as a writer.
4.

her mother prohibit her from generating further writings but she persisted. She would write at night and
store her notebooks in her trunk under her clothing.

5.

Her works depict the history of Panay and the progress of the Ilonggo culture from the arrival of Malay
settlers in the Middle Ages to the Spanish and American colonial eras as well as the Japanese occupation
during World War II.

6.

Previously women's access to education, publishing, and circulation of their works was limited. Their
lack of access to artistic training hampered their ability to create. Women's writing was denigrated by
social and literary attitudes thus if a woman writer wanted to get published she had to use a male
pseudonym and soften her writing's over-aggressive or over-defensive tone.

7.

The importance of Jose Rizal is that he inspired her to become a writer or to pursue becoming writer
because he himself Jose Rizal is known from his novel maybe Jalandoni is amaze and motivated to
become a writer.

8.

- I believe it depicts the idea that no matter what one's physical look is, as long as they have a nice
attitude, everyone will love them. As a result, Magdelena Jalondoni admired Jose Rizal throughout her
life, not for his appearance, but for his literary works.

- It basically shows that Magdelena didn't want to marry, so she set an unreasonable precondition to
prevent it from happening. As a result She remain single and wrote 37 novels, 5 autobiographies, 8
narrative poetry, 6 corridos, 10 plays, 213 lyric poems, 132 short tales, 9 essays and 10 melodramas.

- It symbolizes how love overcomes all obstacles despite Elias poverty, Juanita was so devoted to him
that she even abandoned her own family for him. However, Juanita was so enraged by Elias that she
confronted his memorial in the plaza after learning that he was a member of the revolutionary
movement against Spain and was murdered in a victorious battle.

9.

Working within the material framework of production and consumption of her time. Jalandoni has sown
intimations of the Ilonggo woman's fracture from gender roles of her time through her novels, keeping
her more in step with the emancipation of woman from patriarchy, an emancipation that was gradually
unfolding during the author's lifetime.
10.

Magdalena Jalondoni had never pictured herself as a reina for the Candelaria feast, nor had she
anticipated Jose leading her through the square. All she did was write and be inspired by Jose Rizal's
work, then display her works to the public. Throughout her life, she was honored with numerous prizes
for her contributions to the improvement of Hiligaynon, her native dialect, as well as the brilliance that
made her such a prolific writer.
