“All About Carmen”

(Tradition)

Tradition is a way of thinking, behaving, or doing something that has been

used by the people in a particular group, family, society for a long time
whether a stories or beliefs.

The town of Carmen have its traditions maybe they got it during the time of
Spaniards. It was related by my grandmother who is a Boholano. I tried to
search different traditions about Carmen but there’s no perfectly match of
what’s the real tradition of the municipality is. So for instance, through
interviewing my grandmother, I gathered relevant information of what
ancient tradition they interfered during their times that still exists today.

As we celebrated New year earlier, year 2018. I was being told by my

grandmother about their beliefs including here are the following.

During 31st of December, it was being part of Carmen’s tradition that all the
things must be ready for all the stuffed or viands in your house in beliefs
that when doing this, whole year you will not be hungry. Also during
midnight of December 31st, they made some noise because they believe
that all the bad and evil spirit will fade and gone.
Second, during All Souls Day, it was being part of the culture that they go
to cemetery by giving prayers for their love ones who passed away.

Lastly, aside from New year and All Souls Day there’s still tradition that
really continuing to exist today, it is by giving thanks or honoring roasted
pig during the feast of the saint.
