Lack of Education in the Philippines

Lack of education is defined as a state where people have a below-average

level of common knowledge about basic things that they would urgently need
in their daily life. This issue is usually caused by Marginalization and Poverty,
Inequality, and financial deficit of a developing country.
In the Philippines, education is a means of escaping poverty for a large number
of individuals. In areas like the Philippines, this is plainly not the case, as millions of
Filipinos are unable to access school, and so poverty is caused by a lack of
education.

According to figures from the Department of Education and the National

Statistical Coordination Board in the Philippines, 1 in 6 Filipino kids will not attend
school. Further, only 7 out of 10 kids will complete elementary school. Of those 7
kids, only 4 will complete high school, and of those 4, 1 will proceed onto
university.
Due to the pandemic, the Philippines is one of the five countries in the world that
have not started in-person classes since the pandemic began, affecting the
right to learn of more than 27 million Filipino students. While new variants are
causing a rise of infections, UNICEF is advocating for a phased reopening of
schools, beginning in low-risk areas. This can be done on a voluntary basis with
proper safety protocols in place.
While countries like the Philippines are taking some actions to provide remote
learning, at least 29 percent of primary students are not being reached. In
addition to lack of assets for remote learning, some students may not be able to
participate due to a lack of support using the technology, a poor learning
environment, pressure to do household chores, or being forced to work.

Possible solutions for lack of education in the Philippines:

to produce much more productive Students

 Provide a better learning environment for Students
 Provide more sustainable job opportunities for our fellow citizens

Although there are many ways to combat poverty and lack of education in the
Philippines, Next Step Philippines is one solution that everyone can be involved
with. The Next Step is all about enlisting the help of these young people and
rescuing them. Teenagers who are being ravaged by malnutrition, starvation,
and illiteracy, and then providing them with the education they need to break
the cycle of poverty.

Massive changes can be done with the aid of sponsors and donations. You, too,
can help by donating on a monthly basis. Every peso donated to Next Step
Philippines helps a Filipino teen receive a good education and assistance, lifting
her out of poverty and illiteracy.

Current progress

As an organization we need to start somewhere. God has not yet blessed us

with the PHP 27,366,080 to build out the necessary campus to support the 160
cadets. So, currently we are helping selected students with books, materials,
transportation, and as needed tuition. Our goal is the build a thriving academy
to support 160 students to achieve their goals. However, we are not there yet as
an organization. So, we do what we can with what we have. Currently we
have volunteers who help with marketing, web development, roundtable
discussions, and donor relations. We are still a few years out from hosting 160
students. As a result, we are doing the best good.
