CELTA Online Unit 19 Task 12: Your Turn Commenting on and Correcting

Student’s Writing

Commentary
For (e) the teacher might choose to use P instead of Sp because everyday needs to be written as two
words here as opposed to the adjective which is written as one word everyday.
Sometimes a teacher may also include prompts for the student to correct mistakes, for example, in (b)
the teacher might include ‘when? what tense can we use to talk about future arrangements?’ to guide
the student to self-correct.

The teacher has also included overall comments on the student’s writing at the end of the letter in (j),
for example, ‘This is a very clear letter which is easy to follow and achieves the task – well done! Be
careful with your use of a/an.’
