1. Intercultural communication is an integral part of an organization, without this
type of communication, the organization is unable to survive. How will you define it
in few words?
Ans: Communication between people from two different cultures is referred to as
intercultural communication. People from different cultures construct common meanings
through intercultural communication, which is a symbolic, interpretive, transactional, and
contextual mechanism. Intercultural communication is a part of all communicative
interactions, and paying attention to your point of view is extremely important.

2. Define Email Etiquettesin a few words.


Ans: When writing or responding to emails, email etiquette refers to the rules of conduct
that should be followed. It's also recognized as the email contact code of ethics. Email
etiquette varies depending on who we're writing to friends and family, partners,
customers, superiors, or subordinates.

3. What is an unfavorable unsolicited message? Give example.


Ans: You may sometimes send bad news messages that are not in response to inquiries.
Announcing bad news about price or services. penalizing for nonconformity to rules or
procedures. Conveying other bad news Admitting mistakes o errors, resignations, etc.
This section illustrates unfavorable announcements about prices and services, rules and
procedures, plus miscellaneous bad news.

4. How can we communicate effectively? Elaborate a few words.


Ans: Effective communication is about more than just exchanging information. It's all
about deciphering the sentiment and motivations behind the data. You must be able to
accurately communicate a message as well as listen in such a manner that you grasp the
whole sense of what is being said to making the other person feel heard and understood.

Effective communication seems to be an instinct. But, all too often, something goes
wrong as we attempt to connect with others. We say one thing, but the other party hears
something completely different, resulting in misunderstandings, confusion, and
confrontation. This can trigger issues in your relationships at home, in education, and at
work.

5. List down the 7cs for effective communication, and explain only two amongst them.
Ans: The 7cs for effective communication:
 Completeness: The communication must be complete. It should convey all facts required
by the audience. The sender of the message must take into consideration the receiver’s
mindset and convey the message accordingly.
 Conciseness: Conciseness means wordiness, i.e, communicating what you want to
convey in the least possible words without forgoing the other C’s of communication.
Conciseness is a necessity for effective communication.
 Consideration.
 Concreteness.
 Courtesy.
 Clearness.
 Correctness.
6. In context to National Cultural Variable, how the economy variable will affect
business communication?
Ans: Availability of capital and transportation and the standard of living per capita varies
from nation to nation. The opportunity to borrow money, the rate of inflation (price rise),
and the exchange rates influence business and a country’s ability to communicate
concerning that business.
For example:
1. In Pakistan, the competitors usually set their prices.
2. In contrast IEEE set their standard for different computer equipment.
3. Israeli agricultural competitors mutually agree on a price.
4. Some Japanese businesses check with the government before initiating major
production and trading changes.

7. Ethics as a communications issue, define in few words.


Ans: Ethical issues of business communication is the way by which individuals or groups
of people exchange information between them. In theory, many consumers prefer to do
business with companies they believe are ethical which gives those ethical businesses an
advantage in the market.
Breaching confidentiality or purposely communicating lies about a person or an
organization, for example, can be considered a legal issue as well as an ethical issue.
Legal violations of communications, such as slander, can result in sanctions by governing
bodies or criminal ramifications.

8. Differentiate between Direct (Deductive Organization Plan) and Indirect (Inductive


Organization Plan) in context to effective business messages.
Ans: Direct (Deductive) Approach:
When you think that your audience will be interested in what you have to say or willing
to cooperate with you, you can use the direct or deductive plan to organize your message.
It means your present request or the main idea in the beginning, which follows up
necessary details and then you close your message with a cordial statement of action you
want. We use this approach when the request requires no special tact or persuasion. Close
to direct request is a good news plan that is used to grant requests, announce favorable or
neutral information, and exchange routine information within or between organizations.
Look at the outline of direct organizational plans and good news plans.

Indirect (Inductive) Approach:


If you think that your message might upset your reader or listener, you use the indirect
plan to ease your audience into the part of your message that shows that you are fair-
minded and eager to do business with him on some other terms.
This approach consists of four parts:
(1) A buffer,(2) Explanation of your decision supported by reason(3) Negative decision
tactfully expressed or understood with helpful suggestion;(4) A helpful, friendly, and
positive close.

9. Write a three-line persuasive message to your client to purchase Dawlance Air

their cultural differences in non-verbal communication. Facial expressions are mostly
similar in most cultures as many of them like smile and cry are innate
