Instructions: Read each statement and if you are able to answer yes, or the statement is
true for you, then you put the corresponding bead on your string. At the end, the beads on
the bracelet you have each represent something about you or your life. I am going to
include the questions that I am going to ask on zoom just in case you want to look at them
and have an answer beforehand!
Bead Colors
Purple = Gender
Blue = Sexuality
Green = Random
Yellow = Race
Orange = Class
Pink or Red = Ability
Gender (so if this is true for you, put a purple bead on your string)
Sexuality (so if this is true for you, put a blue bead on your string)
1. I can be pretty sure that my roommate, hallmates and classmates will be comfortable with
my sexual orientation.
2. I can go home from most meetings, classes, and conversations without feeling attacked,
excluded, fearful, isolated, outnumbered, unheard, held at a distance, stereotypes or
feared because of my sexual orientation.
3. I can walk in public with my significant other and not have people double-take or stare.
Random (so if this is true for you, put a green bead on your string)
Race (so if this is true for you, put a yellow bead on your string)
1. I can go shopping most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or
harassed.
2. I can take a job or enroll in a college with an affirmative action policy without having my
coworkers or peers assume I got it because of my race.
3. I can easily buy posters, postcards, books, cards, dolls, toys, and magazines featuring
people of my race.
Class (so if this is true for you, put an orange bead on your string)
Ability
1. I do not have to worry about where the curb cuts are located, or I do not know what a
curb cut is.
2. I can perform daily tasks and not have people ask me how I completed those tasks with
my ability status.
3. I can easily complete a test without asking for special accommodations from a teacher.
