Activities which can be described as cognitive strategies include making mnemonics, and summarizing concepts. Student
often transforms target information by relating a cue word, phrase, or sentence to the target information – called mnemonics
Since real estate management has various enumerations of meanings and functions for certain definitions of terms, by
incorporating all the words into acronyms, a student may have better chance to memorize certain words that are relevant to
the lesson. Also, summarizing is one activity as it teaches students how to discern the most important ideas in a text, how to
ignore irrelevant information, and how to integrate the central ideas in a meaningful way. Teaching students to summarize
improves their memory for what is read. Summarization strategies can be used in almost every content area. As a teacher,
the usual method of approach for me to assess whether they understand or know the lesson is to ask questions to help
students refine their thinking and recognize where they may be wrong. The best instructional material for teaching such
activities is through handing notes, handouts and other relative reviewers for them to read on.
