We are all aware that education is essential in our lives.

We would not be able to achieve

our dreams if we won't receive a proper education. Education brings stability in life, which no
one can ever take away from us. Being well-educated and obtaining a college degree increases
your chances of landing a better job and opening new opportunities for yourself. However, we
must realize that not everyone has the opportunity to access an education. Particularly in the
Philippines, a third-world country where poverty is pervasive. That is why we should know that
education is one of the things we must not take for granted. According to a Social Weather
Stations survey, an estimated 4.4 million school-age Filipinos (aged 5 to 20) were unenrolled as
of November last year. As per the PSA data, the most common reasons for not attending school
among out-of-school youths were marriage or family issues, a lack of personal interest, and the
high costs of education or financial concerns. Knowing these things breaks my heart, and I know
I have to do something, no matter how simple. As a result, I decided to propose a personal
community project plan that aims to help and teach children who do not have access to
education. This community project plan is entitled “Project Kinaadman”. To provide some
context for the title, the word "Kinaadman" means "education" in Tagalog. Aside from
helping children, we also intend to educate the youth on the fact that not everyone has access to
everything and that every child's future is important, which is why, as students, we must do
whatever we can to help those in need.
Project Kinaadman will take place in Metro Manila, specifically in Barangay 209, Zone
19, Blumentritt, Tondo, Manila. Our target community is children from indigenous groups
(specifically the Badjao group) as well as street children in this particular area. To move this
initiative forward, we will need to have a fundraising event in which we will be given the
opportunity to participate in various activities to help the children. One positive aspect of this
project is that each volunteer will have the opportunity to showcase or use their talents or
hobbies.  To raise funds, volunteers will be given the opportunity to showcase their singing talent
through our Virtual Jingle activity, which will be held on Facebook live. In this activity, our
volunteers' excellent singers will perform songs whatever the audience requests in exchange for
donations. Furthermore, volunteers with baking skills will be given the opportunity to sell their
homemade desserts such as mango graham, cupcakes, and the like. Also, our talented artists from
our volunteers can sell their artworks or take commissions from our generous donors. Lastly, we
may start an online education assistance program in which volunteers will assist students who are
struggling with their schoolwork. With these fundraising activities that we propose, it will
undoubtedly be enjoyable for the volunteers who will participate in this community project.
Following the fundraising event, all funds raised will be spent to purchase storybooks,
school supplies, snacks, and ingredients for the children's meryenda, which is the champorado.
Aside from the freebies, the volunteers will use the remaining time to teach the children how to
write and read. The proposed community project will last about 1-2 hours in the afternoon.
Finally, I'd want to inform everyone that this project may or may not be a one-time event. This
will all be dependent on the people’s willingness to volunteer. If they are still ready to bring this
project forward, I am eager to help more children from other parts of Metro Manila. Before I
conclude this proposal, I'd like to encourage each and every one of you to help and support those
in need, especially children, in any way you can. Always remember that helping one person
might not change the world, but it could change the world for one person. That would be all,
thank you!
