Anatomy

One of the most important artists of renaissance was Leonardo Da Vinci. He studied the
human body in detail and he did excellent drawings of the different parts of the body applying
texture, shading and proportions. Remember that proportion and perspective are the base of
renaissance artworks.

We´ll start with the head, one of the most important parts of the body. Please observe carefully
the images and try to copy exactly what you see (including shades and visual texture).

As you see in the image below, we have different points of view of the skull. You will find in this
drawings the lines that I always tell you to make to guide you. Geometry is useful too, as you
see the skull is inside cubes in some cases.

Steps to follow:
3rd year

1) Draw the main form of the skull below (add guiding lines, like the one that divides
exactly the skull in 2 parts)

2) Once the main form is ready start working with details.

2) Pay attention to the light and shadow of the image. Sometimes we can generate the
texture crossing lines like you can perceive in the image above.

Important information: you can make 2 or 3 sketches of the skull. Please keep all the
drawings that you do to observe the process, it´s very useful to see the evolution of
your drawing skills!
