For anyone who uses social media, it has been both a blessing and a curse. It allows you to stay in touch
with your friends and family. It keeps you entertained. It can even teach you at times.

However, every good thing has a negative side effect. Social media can lead to narcissism, self-pity, self-
harm, low self-esteem, and, worst of all, death. Social media can be a dangerous place to be.

Social media is a risky place for children to be. They have impressionable minds that mimic everything
they see. Take, for example, the "Outage chalenge."

According to an article in Asian Parent, a four-year-old nearly died by hanging herself as a result of the
aforementioned challenge.

Bullying on the internet, particularly on social media, is a common occurrence. It has grown in popularity
since the advent of the internet. People who are affected by this have degraded world views and are
more likely to commit suicide.

Clout is a new term coined by millenials and gen z to describe people who seek fame and fortune on
social media. These clout chasers started dangerous trends that are mentioned in this essay.

Social media can be dangerous, but it doesn't have to be. Regulations should be enacted to prevent
anything dangerous from occurring as a result of social media.
