country .It is a research institute in the
areas of biodiversity conservation and
sustainable development . They focus on
applied science through research
education and action on conservation of
nature , management of natural
resources and sustainable development .

Site planning :
The building covers around 80% of the site area .It is kept In mind Thus , creating a comfortable
to create a balanced microclimate by planting trees , shrubs , microclimate inside. DESIGN STUDION -V

An ideal work environment would be the one which focuses
that the user relates to the required inter action between
users and creates a highly motivated individuals .

The courtyards:
The courtyards are covered with
skylight . the courtyard helps to keep
the building cool in summer and warm in
winter . It also provides for natural
ventilation system , in which fresh
air is drawn into the rooms.

The basement :
The basement being partially over
ground level will be naturally lit and
ventilated .It will also how some services
like electrical and power room ,rainwater
harvesting tanks facilities
for drivers and house keeping staff.
Also part of the library which is
access internally is in the basement.

The ground floor:
The ground floor entrance from the south east side leads you into AUDITORIUM
a reception and lobby which is a small landscaped sky lit
courtyard. The auditorium which is designed as a multipurpose HERBARIUM
space which is linked to the area outside is landscaped to act as
a spill over space in between seminars or conferences .The labs INSECT COURTYARD
MUSEUM
are towards the western end of the built . Chemistry , Genetics

The library : RECEPTION

The library has been divided into two interconnected spaces on LAB
levels with an underground for archives . It is a flexible space to ENTRY
make optimum use for display and encourage interesting areas
of research . N

The first floor : The second floor and third

The first floor consists of work space for the research fellows and floor :
their assistants . The second floor and third floor are
mainly workspaces for research
fellows and their assistants. the
workspaces have a visual link with wall
only two and a half to four feet high the
rest either open or have glasses
whenever sound privacy is required.all
the spaces have a connection to the
open courtyard.
The forth floor or the terrace :
the forth floor or the terrace has the
café with pantry and kitchen. it also
has recreation lounge with
entertainment facility.the dinning area
consis of a large semi covered

The building material:
the building materials used are non toxic and all natural materials
are used in their natural form , texture and colour. the main
structure of the building is a rcc frame with columns and beams
with infill walls of cement blocks and terracotta hollow bricks. the
interiors are plastered walls with relief of brick exposed in the
corridors.

Soil waste management :

The grey water from the washbasin showers kitchen will be recycled for use in the
garden. special filters are used for the labs which produce toxic chemicals in traces .
The black water or sewage is connected to a DEWATS sewage treatment plant and
BALCONY OVERLOOKING water that comes out is used for landscaping . Sorting of garbage , composting of

kitchen waste and recycling a paper and glass . All toxic waste products such as
cartridges , batteries , films etc is
segregated and disposed separately. .
