1. RAMON CABANOS BARBA- Ramon Barba is a Filipino scientist, inventor and
horticulturist who is known for his successful experiment on the inducement of
flowering of mango trees by spraying them with ethrel and potassium nitrate.

2. JOSEFINO CACAS COMISO- His contribution to the scientific world is the

development of algorithms for the retrieval of sea ice concentration, surface
temperature, and clouds.

3. JOSE BEJAR CRUZ JR.- Jose Bejar Cruz known internationally in the field of
engineering and for outstanding contributions to the field of automatic control in
research, teaching, and service.

4. LOURDES JANSUY CRUZ- a National Scientist based at the University of the

Philippines- Diliman, was recognized for her role in discovering Conotoxins (or
toxins from marine snails) during the 1970s to 80s.

5. FABIAN MILLAN DAYRIT- He isolated and identified new pharmacologically

active bioactive compounds in indigenous plants, particularly, lagundi.

6. RAFAEL DINEROS GUERRERO-He was recognized because of his scientific

technical contributions to the growth of Sex Reversal and Hatchery techniques
that help the commercial fabrication of high yielding market-size tilapia in the
Philippines.

7. ENRIQUE MAPUA OSTREA JR- His contributions to the field of pediatrics,

neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and neonatal drug addiction.

8. LILIAN FORMALEJO PATENA- She is known for discovering the seedless breed
of lime and pomelo.

9. MARI-JO PANGANIBAN RUIZ- Outstanding educator and graph theorist.

10. GREGORY LIGOT TANGUNAN- Known for his research in the field of
communications technology.

11. CAESAR A. SALOMA- Saloma was recognized for his contributions to photonics
and signal processing that were accomplished with colleagues and students.
 12. EDGAR GOMEZ- A Filipino biologist who was conferred the rank of National
Scientist of the Philippines in 2014.He led the the world’s first national-scale
assessment of damage to coral reefs leading to international conservation
initiatives such as the replanting of corals.

13. WILLIAM PADOLINA- He is known for a great number of contributions to the

world of science, and works in the branch of biology. He is known for his works in
Photochemistry such as biogas generation from crop residues, preparation of
natural insecticides from indigenous plants.

14. ANGEL ALCALA- Angel Alcala found passion and love for marine life especially
those in the tropical waters of his country. He contributed to his country’s marine
development and ecology concerns.
