What Makes a House a Home?

For this project you will be creating a diorama of one of the types of
housing that we discussed in this unit. This can be done in a group of
2-3 people.

The type of housing can be from any of these groups (please

circle your choice):
Algonquin (Wigwam)
Iroquois (Longhouse)
The People of the Great Plains (Teepee)

First start with research on the group and type of housing. A

research sheet will be included for you to fill out.
You should be able to answer the following questions:

● What type of house did they live in?

● Were they migratory?
● Were their houses permanent?
● How many people lived in this type of house?
● What kind of items were kept in the house?
● Where would their house be located in Canada?
● Compare this house to yours. What is different? Or similar?
What kind of materials will you need to complete your diorama? List
them below for your teacher:

Your diorama should be similar in looks to the type of housing you

picked. Your diorama should also include labels telling others about
the house. Please include your research sheet with your project.
