    Installation/Operation Manual December 3rd, 2019

    Katalox Light media should be properly backwashed & rinsed before placing into service.
    Requirement for Top & Bottom distributor 0.5 mm

    Installation Basic (for first time installation only!)


    1. Open the new bag of Katalox-Light media and put into the pressure vessel
    2. Fill up the pressure vessel slowly with fresh water from bottom to the top (backwash
    mode)
    3. Start backwashing the media for minimum 20 minutes ( of if any fines are still visible
    in the backwash water) at 25 – 30 m/h [10 – 12 gpm/ft2].
    4. After backwash is complete. Perform fast rinse for minimum 5 minutes @ 20 m/h [8
    gpm/ft2].
