Rural land use URBAN LAND USE

 RURAL LAND USE

• In rural areas,agriculture is the main

occupation.agro based activities are also common
in rural areas.this influences the location for rural
settlement.

ARABLE LAND USE
This is land under cultivation.this land is under individual ownership.
FALLOW LAND USE

This is agricultural land which is temporarily not in use.to improve the fertility of
soil.the farmer does not use the land for one or two seasons.
FOREST LAND USE
The area under forest is called forest land use.from this area we obtain
gum,wood,grass,fruit and medicine etc.
GRASSLAND/PASTURELAND
This is land under the ownership of village panchayat or the government and used for
grazing purpose.
 URBAN LAND USE

• There has been increase in urban settlement in the

twentieth century.In urban areas land is used for
different purposes.
 COMMERCIAL LAND USE
Some parts of cities are only use for commercial purposes.In these areas there are
many shops,banks and offices.this has given rise to the concept central business
district(CBD) for example in mumbai BKC{bandra kurla complex}
RESIDENTIAL LAND USE
The main land use is for residential purpose.In this areas houses and residential
buildings are included.since population has been increased residential land use has
increased
TRANSPORT LAND USE
In urban areas,transportation facilities are important for the movement of goods and
people.for This purpose different types of transportation facilities like bus stops,railway
lines,metro,commercial vehicles,city road,etc are included in transport land use.
