ACTIVIDAD 1.- With verbs that have short forms (not only be but also
have, do and some others that we will meet later) we do not normally
use the full form in speaking except when we want to put special
emphasis on the verb.
So, for the present tense of be we have short forms for all
persons:
Full form / Short form
I am / I’m – I am Joselin, I’m Gerardo and I like ice cream
you are / you’re – you are nice, you’re my favorite friend
he is / he’s – he is a rare person, He's a very tall person
she is /she’s – She is sleeping on the chair, She´s tired of walking
it is / it’s – It's a pleasure to work with you- It is a dificuld exam
we are /we’re – we’re a good team playing baseball – We are in paris
they are / they’re – they’re all those who are going to play today – they
are my friends

ACTIVIDAD 2.- Add the correct question tags to these sentences –

ACTIVIDAD 3.- We turn statements using the verb be into questions


by simply
changing the order of the pronoun (I, you, he, she, it, etc.) and verb
in the full form. So:
Statement (full form) QuestionNotice that there is no short form for
questions: for example, instead
of he is we usually say he’s, but we cannot say ‘ ’s he?’ instead of
is he?
Turn these statements into questions – remember to use full forms!

2 Dave’s off work today. IS DAVE OFF WORK TODAY?
3 It’s cold outside. IS IT COLD OUTSIDE?
4 We’re in the right place. _ARE WE IN THE RIGHYT PLACE?
5 Everyone’s ready. IS EVERYONE READY?
6 You’re tired. ARE YOU TIRED?
7 They’re in the garden. ARE THEY IN THE GARDEN?
8 Morgan and Eddie are here. _ARE HERE MORGAN AND EDDIE?
9 Oliver’s outside. IS OLIVER OUTSIDE?
10 Jenny’s inside. IS JENNY INSIDE?
ACTIVIDAD 4.-We use the object form of a personal pronouns when it
is the OBJECT
of the sentence, but we also use object forms in identification
sentences,
for example after That’s . . . , as in Dialogue 9, where Justine is
pointing people out:
It is wrong to use the subject forms in this kind of sentence.
Ejercicio:
Fill in the pronoun. The first one has been done for you.
