ASSIGNMENT 03

LESSON 1
ACTIVITY
Choose one artwork under each category that you are familiar with. Cite a Filipino
artwork related to the category you chose and answer the question provided.

PYRAMIDS OF GIZA
Why you chose it? Relate it to the topic has
been discussed. Elaborate your answer.

The Pyramid of Giza is the architectural

structure that I have chosen. This structure
left an indelible mark on the world. Until the
emergence of contemporary skyscrapers, it
was the world's largest and tallest structure.
The Pyramids of Giza, in particular, have
attracted people's interest due to the
structure's unknown origins.
The Pyramid of Giza is a work of art that was created a long time ago, but its beauty
and structure have remained to this day. And is one of the many examples of how age
has no influence on art.

ASSESSMENT
Answer the following questions based on your own understanding/ interpretation of the
lesson you learned.
1. If you were an artist, what kind of artist you want to be?
I'd like to be a classic painter if I were an artist. Painting is my first love when it
refers to appreciating art. The most of my paintings are about one person's feeling,
societal movements, and landscape. And I have my own interpretation of other
colors, particularly the primary colors like blue, red, and yellow. Painting is also a
way of communicating or expressing your feelings to others.

2. Why is art not nature?

When it comes to the distinctions between art and nature, it is commonly
recognized that nature is unique, whereas art is solely a human creation. Art
attempts to replicate natural events, but nature will always reign supreme. Art, no
matter how lovely a human product may be, will never be better or more beautiful
than nature itself.

3. Art is ageless. Explain this statement,

Art is ageless because it defies the passage of time. Art, in any form, is always new
and open to interpretation by the audience. Works by various artists may be a
century old, two centuries old, or even older, but they are still fresh and new since
they hint to varied meanings depending on the individual. And even how old it is, it
is still art.
4. Why does art involve experience?
"Art involves experience" signifies that art is a means of expressing one's feelings,
emotions, or ideas as a result of one's experiences. As a result, art conveys the
artist's experiences. The Starry Night, for example, is an attempt to depict a feeling
of shock, and the cypresses, olive trees, and mountains functioned as a trigger for
Van Gogh.

5. Cite other misconceptions about art

 Art must be perfect.
 Art is not for everyone; it is just for skilled artists.
 Art is for individuals who have the financial means to purchase materials.
 Painting and drawing are the same thing.
 The more art materials you used, the better your artwork was.

and decide which is more functional.

 worship and ritual and commentary  produce sensations of volume,
space, movement, and light on a
flat surface

Which is more functional? Explain.

 Paintings and sculptures both have a decorative function, although
paintings are more widely available. Painting, therefore, is significantly
superior in terms of adaptability. Sculptures are frequently big and difficult
to move, making them much more difficult to display. Painting promotes
self-esteem and motivates people to improve their skills. Painting also
creates a relaxed, open environment in which artists can freely express
themselves. The satisfaction that comes from improving and increasing
one's artistic abilities gives one a sense of accomplishment.

Activity 3
Directions: Give your own perception of beauty? What is beauty to you? Do you have
standard to consider art as beautiful? Explain.
 Beauty is the way you perceive one object is defined by its beauty. It's all about
how you interpret a single object. I don't have a standard for what I believe to be
beautiful in the arts since anything is an art, even a simple line, a stick man, a
simple line of home, or even a splatter of colors, and the meaning of the art is
more beautiful than its physical form.
Activity 4
Directions: Do you have any artworks in your house? Choose
only one and give its history and function.

This is one of my works of art. It's the first animated portrait I've
created with acrylic paint in a watercolor style. And the purpose
of this is to serve as a reminder for me to observe my progress
and how far I've come in the arts.

Assessment
Answer the following questions based on your own understanding/ interpretation of the
lesson you learned. 5 points each.

1. Do Arts always have functions? Why? Provide your own example.

 Yes. The function of art is subjective, but it will continue to function as art
until the thing is no longer considered art, such as a vase, which is an art
that serves a purpose until it breaks and can no longer be utilized. For
everything that has a purpose, there is a function for it.

2. If an artwork has no function, is it still considered as art?

 Yes, it is still art even though it has no function.

3. Why perception of beauty is subjective? Support your answer by providing your

own example.
 Beauty is subjective, people and things that I adore or admire because of
their physical characteristics do not need to be appreciated by everyone.
Things that I find attractive may not appeal to others, and there is no
obligation to do so because everyone thinks differently. As a result, they
have distinct ideas about what beauty is.

4. What kind of artwork you are capable of doing that can showcase your
emotions?
 Painting and digital arts are two types of art that I used to express my
emotions.
5. If there is an artwork that changed your perspective in life, what is it and how it
inspired you?
 The Starry Night inspired me because, despite the fact that it is a different
type of art, the beauty of the art is found in the story and message of the art.
