TASK
Preliminaries
 Wake up, make up your bed, eat breakfast and get ready for an awesome day!
 Have a short exercise/meditation/bonding with family.
Introduction (What I Need to Know)
 At the beginning of the module, tell the learner that he/she will learn what are conjunctions, connect
sentence parts (words, phrases or clauses) and compose clear and coherent sentences using
conjunctions.
 Prepare the learner to explore his/her module and instruct him/her to prepare the answer sheet/s.

Pre assessment (What I Know)


 Tell the learner to answer the first activity on pages 3-4.
 Identify the conjunction used in each sentence.
Remember: If the learner is having a hard time answering the activity, parents or any member of the family
may assist or guide him/her in doing the activity.
PROCEDURE
1. Review/Motivation (What’s In)
 This portion contains a short activity which may be found on pages 4-5.
 Let the learner encircle the conjunction in each sentence. Put a check (/) inside the box to identify if it
is a coordinating or subordinating conjunction.
Remember: This activity gives the learner an overview of what is the topic about. Sit beside your child. He/she
may need his/her parents’ help in this activity.
2. Initial Activity/Discovery (What’s New)
 Tell the learner to read the dialogues on pages 5-6.
 Answer the questions orally.
Remember: For the learner, you may ask for help if you do not fully understand the dialogues. For the parents,
guide your child as he/she tries to read the dialogues.
3. Discussion of the Topic (What Is It)
 It is important to concentrate in reading pages 6-9. Study what are conjunctions and its three main
types. Read and understand how each type of conjunction is used in
connecting sentence parts. Study the guidelines in using conjunctions. Look into the importance
of parallelism in composing clear and coherent sentences.
Remember: Guide your child in reading and studying this part. You may explain or discuss the content of the
lecture.
4. Enrichment Activities (What’s More)
 This part of the module aims to check if the learner understands the lesson. Have him/her answer the
independent activities and assessments on pages 9-12.
 In Independent Activity 1 on page 9, let the learner choose the conjunctions in the given sentences.
 In Independent Assessment 1 on pages 9-10, select the conjunctions in the given sentences.
Identify whether they are coordinating, subordinating or correlative conjunctions.
 In Independent Activity 2 on page 10, choose the appropriate conjunction that will make the
sentence clear and coherent.
 In Independent Assessment 2 on page 10, match the independent clause in Column A with the
subordinate clause in Column B.
 In Independent Activity 3 on page 11, rewrite the sentences correctly so that they have similar
grammatical structure.
 In Independent Assessment 3 on pages 11-12, write clear and coherent sentences about the given ideas.
Use the specified conjunction and observe parallelism in composing sentences.
Remember: Remind your child to be careful in answering. Tell him/her to read and understand the directions
well before answering.

5. Generalization (What I Have Learned)


 In Activity A, let the learner complete the given table by identifying and listing the types of
conjunctions along with their examples.
 In Activity B, complete the given paragraph by writing clear, coherent and meaningful sentences.

6. Application (What I Can Do)


 The learner must use what he/she learned to answer the activity on page 13.
 Write or tell something about one’s family by answering the given questions using clear and
coherent sentences with conjunctions.
Remember: Tell your child that this part encourages him/her to work independently.
7. Assessment (Post assessment)
 Check if the learner understood the lesson by answering the assessment on pages 14-15.
 Read each sentence. Select the conjunction that best completes each sentence.
Remember: Allow your child to do this on his/her own. Encourage your child to try his/her best in answering
the test.
8. Additional Activity
 Have the learner answer the additional activities on page 15.
 In Activity A, let the learner arrange the words in their proper order to make clear and coherent
sentences.
 In Activity B, compose a meaningful sentence using the conjunction inside the box.
Remember: At the end of this module, remember to appreciate the work of your child. You may give positive
reinforcement to your child.

MODE OF DELIVERY
Parent or guardian shall return the finished module to the teacher/adviser on the given scheduled date
of retrieval.
