Case Summary

A woman, S.K., 52 years old, was found dead in her hotel room in Dubai by her husband who
came back from business conference late at night. He (F.A) got married to S.K 5 years back and
it was second marriage of both. F.A was a part-time novelist while S.K was housewife. She was
known to be a energetic, lively and confident woman. They did not have any children. Both had
Pakistani origin and they live in Sharjah and was visiting Dubai for business purpose, when the
unfortunate incident happened. The S.K. was suffering from lupus. Few days before her death,
on S.K. birthday party, her friend found that she started smoking and had lost weight. She asked
the reason to which she sadly responded that she is been diagnosed with lupus, its terminal and
she had just 2 years left. S.K friend also noticed that S.K. was wearing a taweez in her neck and
couldn’t help asking about it, to which she said that she visited a spiritual healer who gave that to
her. Her friend mocked saying “you and your spiritual healers” to which S.K got offended and
said “Stop, don’t say a single more word against him”.
From the interviews of the relatives it was found that F.A never pressurized his wife for money
although he had been facing financial difficulties, neither anyone reported that he engaged in any
physical assault.
Crime Scene:
No signs of burglary or strangulation were found. She was lying on her bed. No suicide note was
found. Empty Alprax strip was also found in the room
Autopsy Report:
She had injection marks on her arm. Two Chemials Alprazolam and lidocaine found in her
blood.
Social Media:
From the tweets posted from her account, in last few days before her death, S.K. alleged that his
husband F.A was having an affair with his cousin M.H. in Pakistan and engaged in an argument
with the alleged lover.

The court is not sure whether it’s a homicide or a suicide…. Whats your take on
this as a Forensic Psychologist?
