1. What is three (3) point lighting?

- Three-point lighting has been the Hollywood standard for years now, we’ve been
using it because it looks incredibly eye pleasing and it looks great on your subject
within a scene. Three-point lighting has been the foundation of a light placements
on a set, it is a language that helps us talk about where our lights come from in our
scene.
2. Describe the following:

2.a. Key light

- Is the main light in your setup, it is also the brightest and covers the face the most.

2.b. Fill light

- Is usually on the other side of the key light. All this light does is just fill in the shadows
given by the key light. A typical way of using the fill light is to place it on the opposite
side of the key light while dimming down the brightness so you don’t flatten out the
face. Sometimes a fill light is a reflector board utilizing the key light bouncing back at the
subject.

2.c. Back light

- Its purpose is to separate the subject from the background. A typical backlight is placed
about 45 degrees behind the subject illuminating the shoulders and the back of the
head.

3. What is low key lighting and high key lighting?

 Low key lighting


- Took away all the fill light, the lighting hitting the subjects is low

 High key lighting


- The face of the subjects is very bright
