Reflection paper in The Happy Prince

After reading the story I was very amazed about the moral lessons you will get from
here, there were so many that I said to myself “Wow” because it was so good. One of
the lessons I got from the story was that people should be more kind and helping to
each other because this helps the community or town become unified and come
together. This also reduces the separation between the rich and the poor because more
interaction between them means that they can come together more easily.
Also the two sides of The Happy Prince is the statue and the human, I
believe the statue represents the happiness and joy in the city, it also shows the
kindness in everyone’s heart and I believe this represents the poor side of the city. The
human on the other hand represents the rich side of the city which is very ignorant
outside of their group.
Another lesson I learned is that you can inspire people to be helpful as you are. An
example of this is the swallow who is very hesitant at first because he wants to go to
Egypt but The Happy Prince persuades him not to go to Egypt and also help him be his
delivery man. The swallow was so inspired by the kind acts of The Happy Prince that he
delivers the jewels and ruby’s The Happy Prince has in his body to the poor families in
the city. I was saddened to hear that The Happy Prince even gave his eyes, not caring if
he was blind just so he could give money to the poor.
The ending was very satisfying because at the end both of them went to the kingdom of
God to live in eternal peace. I hope everybody is inspired by this story and shows this
type of kindness to their fellowmen.
