MURDERED TO DEATH
YVONNE ARNAULD THEATRE
DIR: Giles Watling
LEXI SUTTON

B
eing a big fan of the
traditional English
‘Whodunnits’, I was very
excited to see this particular
play.
Having some great actors,
including Victor Spinetti and
Sandra Dickson, helped.
The play started out well,
establishing two women living
with a butler who have guests
over the weekend. Within the
irst half an hour, one is dead.
Memorable characters
included ‘Joan Maple’, a
wonderful adaptation of ‘Miss
Marple’ and a detective who
hadn’t a clue about what he was
doing.
This was a fantastic play
with a great cast, suspense and
an interesting murder at the
end.
However the second half
dragged; and the audience’s
concentration waned.
Thankfully the wonderful
characters of Pierre and
Elizabeth Hartley trumping on
bought the audience back just in
time for the ending.
I really enjoyed this play and
if you ever get the chance to go
and see it, I would thoroughly
recommend it.

25) Hercules (1997)

Rachel Gildea, Dance and Theatre Editor, The Wizard of Oz

My favourite film is The Wizard of Oz. Always has been. So attached to all the characters and the story of a girl trying to find her way to her
dreams and then home again is poignant

Nicole Vassell, Copy Editor, High School Musical

Yes, that’s right. When I watched this for the first time, I was 15 and enjoyed it more than my nine-year-old sister, to whom it was probably
aimed. The songs are incredibly catchy and I unashamedly know the moves to their main dances. So what that I’m quickly approaching 19? This
movie cheers me up instantly and is a nice injection of cheesy fun to a rainy day.

Ankur Banerjee, Webmaster, Crimson Tide

I happen to be fan of 'war films' in general; I consider Crimson Tideto be among the best. Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington face-off
with unshakeable conviction and logic to deliver an action film that is sure to make you think about the philosophy of warfare.

Jack White, Design Team, The Wicker Man

Ultra-Christian Scottish policeman Edward Woodward goes to a island inhabited by pagans to investigate the disappearance of a young girl.
The Wicker Man has one of cinema's most horrifying and infamous climaxes, yet is a strangely homely film.

Marisa da Costa, Sports Editor, Before Sunrise

Céline and Jesse, two strangers meet on a train and decide to spend a day together in Vienna which leads them to discover the connection of
love and the ephemerality of time.

Mariam Nasir, Editor, Gone with the Wind

The beautiful story of Scarlett O’Hara’s love life during the emancipation proclamation in America is one of the most inspiring stories ever
told on film. Her determination to overcome every issue she faces with robust and undying attitude is something I admire greatly. This film
maybe 4 hours long but it is definitely worth the time.
