First, selecting the microstrip line from components.
It is basically done to find the required lengths and width of the structures of given
impedances.

Then we open the TRL window by double clicking the component.

For f = 2 Ghz, we find the width and lengths of impedances. (50, 100, 70.7) ohm
respectively.
Then creating new design for planer EM design, ( for microstrip design)
Using rectangular block to make the shapes with proper dimensions. Also merging them:

Adding the ports, ( selecting edges and excitation)

Now, simulating for 0-4 Ghz, with step size 0.05 Ghz,
Now creating report and plotting S11 parameter,
Result: Plotting the S11 graph from results, which is the Return loss (RL)

Discussion:

The Return loss plot gives us the frequency vs RL plot from where we can find the
optimum frequency for the circuit.

The best value is -infinity and worst value is 0 for the Return Loss.

The lengths and widths were designed for 2 GHz frequency. So from the plot we see
that the RL value is good at 2 Ghz. As we deviate more from the design frequency, the
RL value gets worse.

At 2Ghz, the peak is somewhat flat. So for that small range of frequencies, the best
value of RL is found. So for that range of frequencies, the matching occurs nearly
perfectly.

Varying the input frequency will change the required length of the structures, because
the quarter wave transformer’s characteristic impedance depends on the line and load
inpedance.
