Elements of politics

According to Prof. Garner- "The meaning of the word politics is the actual external conduct of the state."
In the modern era, the word 'politics' is being used in a more narrow sense.  The word 'politics' has come
to be viewed with contempt.  Often people are heard saying that there has been too much politics in
such a village, politics is too much in such a college.  It is clear that the means which are adopted for self-
interest are being called politics.  Politics has started being used in the sense of deceit, dishonesty,
falsehood and partisanship.  But all the above concepts do not present the true meaning of politics. 
Some scholars have put forward its true meaning.  In the words of Soltau- "Politics is related to all those
people who have a sense of responsibility. Therefore every responsible person has to be related to
politics. With the help of it, he solves various problems. Politics in true sense is a human action.  It is."
Spairo has given its correct definition.  According to him- "Politics is the process by which human
community solves its problems." Thus politics in true sense reflects human action or human behavior. 
Man takes various steps to fulfill his interests.  Politics is the sum total of the steps and measures taken
by him.
Elements of Politics - Only by understanding the different meanings of 'politics', the elements of politics
also become clear.  Some of the main elements can be discussed as follows: 1. Politics is a human
activity. Man is a social animal.  Politics is a fundamental human action linked to this sociality of man. 
Human beings live in society and have a tendency to cooperate with each other, but it is also natural for
them to have conflicts and disputes.  Efforts are also made to solve the problem of conflict and dispute. 
This effort is called politics and in this sense politics is a human action.  According to Michael Auschett –
“Politics is an action in which man, being a citizen, thinks and understands about the systems and
conditions of his community, makes suggestions for changes in them, persuades others to accept the
suggestions proposed.  and behaves accordingly in order to advance the changes.” 2. Politics is a
ubiquitous action – politics cannot be kept within limits.  It is considered a universal action.  Politics is
visible at all levels, local, national, international and also at internal levels.  Politics exists in some form or
the other everywhere.  For this reason, the nature of politics is considered to be universal.  3. Politics is a
variable action - Politics cannot be called a perpetual action.  It is a variable action.  There are constant
changes in human behavior, his behavior is different in different situations.  Changes in human behavior
are also seen from place to place.  With this change, politics also changes.  Thus, politics is a variable
activity.  4. Politics is a struggle for power- Modern scholars believe that politics is a struggle for power. 
The main aim of man is to get power.  That's why they fight with each other.  That is why power has been
called the basic concept of politics.  Political decisions are made in favor of the person who has power.By
power he is able to regulate the other.  It is through power that he is able to establish his influence over
other human beings and thus achieves political victory.  It is also considered an important element of
politics.  5. Politics is the result of struggle - The most essential element of politics is that it is the result
of struggle.  It has been clarified earlier that man is a social animal.  It is natural for his interests to clash
with other human beings living in the society.  Therefore, man is definitely a social animal, but at the
same time there are conflicts and discord in him.  He takes care of his own interests.  His interests are
different.  Every human being wants the fulfillment of his interests or selfishness first.  So conflict is
natural.  But man tries to resolve these conflicts.  It is also resolved by an external force.  All this human
behavior is politics.  Conflict and then trying for a solution are an integral part of politics.  In this sense,
politics is said to be the result of struggle.  Human beings behave in different ways only because of
conflict and the study of this behavior is politics.  It is clear from the above discussions that 'politics' has
different meanings and elements.  It is a fundamental, ever-changing and natural human action.  It
cannot be kept within bounds.  It is the human action of the whole society.  Its relation is not limited to
the state only
