The COVID-19 pandemic is first and foremost a health crisis.

This severe short-term disruption is felt by

everyone around the world. When pandemic occurred, face-to-face classes were canceled and a lot of us
did not anticipate that. Since we were used to having face to face classes and currently, we were learning
at home every student and even teacher are not prepared. Nevertheless, every school tries its best to adapt
and innovate learnings in this situation that we currently belong to. One of those schools is the SPSPS.
As a transferee student, who find hard coping with the new normal set-up at my previous school, this
institution makes it easier for me to adapt to this new normal education because of the implementation of
the F.L.I.E.S. Which I was able to adapt to the changes and enjoy learning. Having easy access to files or
recorded discussions, and considerate professors are top-tier features of this program. F.L.I.E.S Program
has made education bearable at this time of pandemic. It helps every student to cope up lesson despite the
distance learning. With that, I can say that the school has equipped me with the learning I need through
this program. FLIES is just one of the ways to save our sanity amidst this pandemic. Through this
F.L.I.E.S, Under the leadership of President Dr. Vincent G. Alcala provided clarity and direction, built
resilience and instilled hope as they remained focused on the best possible outcomes for us students and
school communities. As we continue to navigate the disruptions and challenges caused by the COVID-19
pandemic, I’d like to express my tremendous gratitude to Dr. Vincent G. Alcala, at a time of great need,
you have stepped forward with flexibility, resiliency and resolve.

SPSPS under the leadership of Dr. Vincent G. Alcala made a solution to continue our studies with this
F.L.I.E.S. Program. This F.L.I.E.S. Program is a great help to us students. As a college student, there is no
doubt you will need to find time to study. Along with finding time, you’ll also need to find the right place
to get your work done. Finding the right study environment is important because you need to be able to
focus and stay productive. As for me, I find it difficult to study at home when the pandemic was starting.
Because of setting up a designated space to study. And also, the distractions from my study time as It's
so noisy to concentrate. It was difficult to adapt to the new normal, but because of the help of this
F.L.I.E.S Program, I was able to adapt to the changes and enjoy learning. As we continue to navigate the
disruptions and challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, I’d like to take a moment to express my
gratitude for how our School has been responding, and to reflect on what guides our decision-making
during this challenging time. I truly appreciate the hard work and ingenuity shown by our School
President, Dr. Vincent G. Alcala, for his flexibility and patience under such stressful circumstances. I
know he worked tirelessly to develop and implement ways to support us students and help sustain our
academic progress.

Furthermore, I look forward to seeing you on campus again soon. Meanwhile, we will get through this
by working together, looking out for each other and lifting each other up. I am proud to be a Paulinian.
Thank you!

The Covid-19 pandemic has inflicted havoc across the world and hit the most vulnerable
hardest. Like any critical sector, education has been deeply wedged. The quarantines and
lockdowns as preventive measures for the COVID-19 virus have interrupted the
traditional face-to-face learning modality because of nationwide school closures.
Innovative learning modalities paved the way for students to continue their access to
education. The crisis exposed many insufficiencies and inequities in our education
systems- from access to digital devices and computers necessary for online education
and the supportive environment needed to focus on learning, up to the misalignment
between resources and needs.
As a student, it is apparent that flexible learning quality education may be under
consideration because of so many factors that affect the learning process. The SPSPS,
through the FLIES program, has the adequate resources to equip the students in the
transition towards the learning modality of the teacher-learning process under the new
normal. Under the leadership of President EGA, the institution has formulated an
effective and productive plan to ensure the students' right to education even in times of
crisis. The students can choose E-Learning Modality or Home-based Learning Modality,
following their preferences and learning style. The FLIES program has the appropriate
design and delivery of programs, courses, and learning interventions that address
situations in the new normal. It provided us, the students, with the most flexibility on the
learning content, schedules, access to online discussion and viewable video lectures,
make use of digital tools and printed modules. The SPSPS continues to aid students
through utilizing instructional methodologies to gain required skills and knowledge in
their area of specialization.

As a new Paulinian, Pres. EGA has equipped me with the learning I need through the F.L.I.E.S.
program. Ever since the pandemic occurred, face-to-face classes were canceled and a lot of us
did not anticipate that. Every student and teacher are not prepared since we were used to having
face-to-face classes and currently, we were learning at home. Nevertheless, every school tries its
best to adapt and innovate learnings in this situation that we currently belong to. One of those
schools is the SPSPS. This institution makes it easier for me to adapt to this new normal
education because of the implementation of the F.L.I.E.S. program. Other than being safe at
home, I also get to manage my own time and track my schedule since the school makes their
activities flexible for us.
