Introduction:
Body:
Through the discussion, I have learned that statistic is a study of data: describing properties of
data (descriptive statistics) and drawing conclusions about a population based on information in
a sample (inferential statistical) where in it is simply a way to described our data and both
statistics help make sense out of row after row of data. One thing I have learned about statistics
is that deals with numbers and attempt to estimate points of accuracy. In some cases, statistics
relies on precision rather than accuracy.
Also, I already understand the characteristic of variable and how we use them in research in
which variable is not only something we measure, but also something we can manipulate and
something we can control for, as well as how variables can be characterized as either discrete or
continuous. Likewise, I can determine the relation between the two data sets. I can distinguish
dependent and independent variables as well as the sort relationship between them.
Now, I can determine and identify which data level of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval,
ratio) should be used, knowing the level of measurement helps you to decide how to interpret
data from a variable and help you decide what statistical analysis is appropriate on the values that
were assigned. Likewise, I can identify which statistical measurement should be used either
parametric statistical measurement or non-parametric statistical measurement.
Conclusion:
Lastly, throughout the lesson I understood various fundamental concept of statistics. I will be
able to apply this knowledge where needed. This topic helps me to seek additional statistical
knowledge. For the reason, we were going to do a research paper in the other subject. Through
what I’ve learned in this lesson, now I can conduct experiments and collect, analyze and interpret
data. In a real-life scenario, I can apply that information and draw a conclusion that will help
develop answers to some issues.
