ARAMINA BOC BSA-3

What art form/artwork has changed something in your life? Why?

I have always wanted to do something artistic, but my endeavors with music have stayed
mediocre, and other arts like painting, drawing, sculpture etc. But even I don’t have those skills
and talent, I appreciate arts and I think the artwork that something changed in my life are music,
listening to music somehow change my life in a way that whenever I feel alone, down, bored, sad
and mad music help me get through it. Music makes me laugh, it makes me cry, it makes me
think, it can inspire virtually any emotion, it awakens something deep inside me. Therefore,
music seems to have the ability to change a certain aspect of my life. Sometimes fall short of
emotion, there are times I can’t be able to express myself, there is where music comes in. music
plays a vital role in my life when I’m in love, I’m in church, I’m travelling somewhere alone, I
plug in my headphone and tune into my favorite song and I enjoyed. Music has something that
built the inner me and upgraded the level of myself.

Does art always have a function? Why? Support your response. Provide example.

Yes, art always has a function, even if it is simply an outlet of creative expression for the
artist. Defined this way, art doesn’t have to be viewed, let alone appreciated, to be called art. If
function refers to the meaning and resultant effect art may have on society, then art with no
practical function would still be art. I don’t think that is a requirement by society, in general that
art have a purpose as part of its definition. Hence, the function of art usually varies on how it has
been perceived by the one viewing. All arts have function, for man, the maker, creates things
because he has a particular need for them. Example even a piece of spoon and chair has a
function in which it makes our life physically comfortable.
