The long wait is over! Introducing the new Food Processing Specialization in MIS starting school year 2022-2023!
Food processing is any methods used to transform fresh foods into attractive, marketable food processed products for
long-term consumption that involves one or a combination of various processes including washing, chopping,
pasteurizing, freezing, fermenting, packaging, cooking, and many more.
It includes adding additives ingredients to food to extend shelf life or adding vitamins and minerals to improve the
nutritional quality of the food.
The course is comprised of food processing methods used to make Mango jams, Skinless longganisa, Chayote pickles,
Smoked Bangus, and many more!
This specialization leads to Food Processing National Certificate (NC II) and career path towards Agri – Fishery Arts
Strand in SHS. Food Science Technicians, Agricultural Communications Specialists, Nutritionists, Dieticians, and many
more are the possible opportunities and professional pathways on higher education under Food Processing
Specialization.
