Instructions. DO NOT OBSERVE A CHILD. USE ONLY THIS INFORMATION to

complete this Case Study Analysis. (50 pts)
Write a developmental profile of a client. A developmental profile format is
provided for you. Guide Questions are given in each area for better analysis.
You do NOT have to fill out everything, but be sure that you include ALL
the relevant information.
Refer to a Child Development Checklist to help you identify the milestones
for a specific age and compare that to the client’s case to formulate your
answers.

CASE STUDY No. 1

Sam is a seven year old male who lives with his parents. He was born on the 20 th of
March 2013. You observe him playing soccer with other peers and notice that he has
difficulty playing ball. He struggled with his balance and was unable to kick the ball. He
threw a tantrum in the middle of the game and the other kids laughed at him. After he
was removed from the game and given some table top activities instead; he was able to
interact well with other children. He was observed to have a very clean and clear
handwriting and also draws images of cartoons quite well. However, he can only copy
images of cartoons, but not draw from his own imagination. Whenever you engage
Sam in watching a movie, he has a difficult time picking out the emotion shown in the
movie. He also showed difficulty in talking about what he saw in the movie. During
snacks break, he was observed to be able to feed himself and clean his area by himself.

development according to developmental milestones. However, the performance in
social/emotional development is well above average for children her age.”
This is the portion that we find meaning. You are NOT diagnosing, but use what you
have observed to make conclusions about problem areas or areas that need to be
focused on to improve the client’s development. You could also include any factors in
the client’s environment that contribute to the client’s strengths or challenges.)
