“BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS“

The Institution Innovation Council (IIC), Department of MBA, IEDC of Puducherry Technological
University, Puducherry jointly organized Orientation Session for all Students and Faculties of Institute
by Innovation Ambassadors on 11.08.2021 via Google Meet.

INSTITUTION INNOVATION COUNCIL (IIC) - AN INITIATIVE OF MHRD FOR

SELECTED HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTES:

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s
Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education
Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students
by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are in
formative years.

MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across
selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution
through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses. It’s our
proud privilege to announce that Puducherry Technological University.

MAJOR FOCUS OF IIC:

 To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem

 Start-up/entrepreneurship supporting Mechanism in HEIs
 Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements
Framework (ARIIA)
 Establish Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas
 Develop better Cognitive Ability amongst Technology Student
FUNCTIONS OF INSTITUTION’S INNOVATION COUNCIL:

 Promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an

innovation promotion eco-system in the campus.
 Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
 Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs,
investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.

welcomed the gathering and delivered the Guest profile.

DR. B. HEMAKUMAR, IIC Convenor, Puducherry Technological University, delivered

the Welcome as well as the Presidential Address.

SREE KAVIRAJA SUDHAN K, Student of Master of Business Administration

(Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development), Puducherry Technological University
introduced the Resource Person.

The Resource Person, Mr. V. VISHNU VARADHAN, CHIEF EXECUTIVE

OFFICER, Pondicherry Engineering College, delivered a compendious content on “BUSINESS
MODEL CANVAS”.

He commenced the session describing about “What’s the basic need to startup a venture”
which is the webinar based on “BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS”.

Further he gave an explicit view on how to determine each segment to develop according
to the customer point of view and needs.

He gave an example and explained about it to the topic “UBER’S BUSINESS MODEL
CANVAS”.

Then he gave a short introduction to “LEAN CANVAS MODEL” which derived from the
failure of BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS and gave the relevant example for this model also.
At last, he answered to the questions which were raised by the participants.
SREE KAVIRAJA SUDHAN K, Student of Master of Business Administration (Innovation,
Entrepreneurship and Venture Development), Puducherry Technological University proposed
the vote of thanks. Nearly 594 candidates were registered and a total of 279 candidates from
both UG and PG courses, research scholars and staff members of PTU and from other colleges
were participated in this program.
