BBHR-11 Leadership in Organisations

Course Objectives
This course aims at a) inculcating the spirit of leadership in students; b) enable students to
understand the importance of leaders in organisations; c) equip students with knowledge of
the necessary qualities and skills to become good leaders; d) acquaint students with
leadership challenges in the dynamic business world and discuss ways to address the same.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, student must be able to a) Demonstrate understanding of meaning,
scope and importance of leadership in organisations; b) Have gained understanding of and
appreciation for different types of leadership styles; c) Developed their own personal
perspective on leadership and identify their leadership traits; d) Demonstrate qualities and
skills of a good leader

Leadership - Meaning, Scope and Importance; Difference between manager and leader;
Theories of Leadership

Unit-II
How to develop the spirit and qualities of a good leader; Profiling and analysing profiles of
select leaders; Transformational Leadership – Meaning and benefits; Situational Leadership –
Meaning and benefits; Women and leadership

Unit-III
Leadership Challenges; Shaping Organisational Culture; Decision Making; How good leaders
influence others through effective communication, ratiocination and values

Unit-IV
Practical components: Leadership Role Plays; Situation handling; Decision Making. Training
sessions on developing leadership skills
