This paper consists of FIFTEEN questions. Answer ALL the questions in the answer booklet
provided.
Maximum marks for each part of a question are indicated.

1. Evaluate each of the following expression
-2{-2 – (43 +20/5)} (3mks)
2. Determine the capacity in litres of a fish tank measuring 60cm by 50 cm by 2.2m (3mks)
3. A salt solution is made by dissolving 1200grams of salt in 45litres of water. How may grams of salt will
there be in 20,000 cm3 of such solution (3mks)
4. A line which joins point A(4, K) and B (-2,5) is parallel to a line whose equation is 5y + 2x – 7 = 0.
Determine the value of K (3mks)
5. Three people Ann, Joy and Janet contributed a total of Kshs 1,302,000 to start a business. The ratio of
contribution of Ann to Janet was 2:3 and Ann to Joy was 4:5. Determine the contribution made by Janet
(4mks)
6. In the figure below ABCD is a square circumscribed by a circle of radius 120m

8. A bag contains 8 red balls and some white balls. If the probability of drawing a white ball is half of the

10. John bought a microwave for Kshs15,000 and sold it at a profit of 20%. Calculate the selling price

12. Pressure (P) varies inversely as area (A) it act upon.
