1st: Filipinos have long believed that Ferdinand Magellan, the Portuguese navigator who
led the Spanish voyage from 1519 to 1521, was the first to find the country. Magellan's
first journey around the world was based on a volume of contemporary voyage records
written by Antonio Pigafetta, a chronicler commissioned by the King of Spain who acted
as Magellan's assistant and recorded an accurate journal of all that happened.
Pigafetta's chronicles revealed modern readers how the Philippines looked before
colonization, including Philippine culture, religious beliefs, and traditions. I’m Yanna,

Introduction to Christianity (getting Baptised and going to church)

Most of all, being resourceful.

(When Magellan tried to colonized the Philippines and Lapu-Lapu)

Conclusion)))
I’m Yanna,
your tour guide for today and we are going to travel back in time and reconnect with our
historical and cultural heritage. Come with me!
 Filipinos are noted for their warmheartedness on occasion. In retrospect, the
people of Homonhon Island greeted Ferdinand Magellan and his crew in the
Philippines with open arms. They allowed them to stay in our country and enjoy
our archipelago's beauty and wealth. In today's world, I believe this feature of
ours still exists. You may see that every time travelers, whether they are tourists
or not, come to our country to enjoy and relax. As Filipinos, we are known for our
great hospitality, which is an inescapable trait.
 Locals first encountered Catholicism when Ferdinand Magellan and his crew
arrived in the 16th century as part of a colonial race for riches and the
Christianization of uncharted territory. Keep in mind that Magellan's expedition
wasn't just about collecting resources; it was also about spreading Christianity
over the world. Since Christianity was handed to us, it has become the majority
religion of Filipinos, accounting for around 86 percent of the population. Until
now, it is the host of experiences, rituals, ceremonies, and adjurations that
provide continuity in life, cohesion in the community and moral purpose for
existence.
 Along with the warm welcome of Filipinos, they also invite Magellan and his crew
in a feast and serve them with all-meat dishes in porcelain. Presumably, these
are considered special events, and the meat dishes would be more in the
feasting category rather than an ordinary daily meal, reflecting the chieftain’s
social status and power. Just like now, we have this unwritten yet common
tradition to serve our visitors with beautiful and new dinner wares like ceramic
plates, glasses and many more along with delicious foods.
 In addition, Pigafetta also describes the taste of Philippine cuisine as salty, owing
to the fact that the foods were preserved in salt and were only half cooked when
they ate steamed vegetables and meat, such as tinola, nilaga, sinugba, inihaw,
or steaming and roasting fish, pork, or chicken, as well as simmering vegetables.
As of today, eating these kinds of foods are still the basic elements of Philippine
cuisine.
 Pigafetta also writes about rituals related with eating and drinking, as well as the
ritual killing of a pig as an offering, when it comes to rituals and traditions. Eating
and drinking are still commonplace in many festivals and other types of
celebrations in the Philippines nowadays. It is used to pay homage to patron
saints or to commemorate the continuous improvement of the Filipino's quality of
life. Animal sacrifice, on the other hand, is only seen in the Philippines' lowlands
and in a few isolated areas. It is a ritual of feasting and dancing performed for
healing, thanksgiving, entertainment and for asking for a bountiful harvest.
 And last but not the least, Filipinos are well-known for their resourcefulness.
Magellan was killed by Lapu-lapu, and his team was destroyed, forcing them to
flee the country, as per written to Pigafetta's journal. Magellan and his troops
used firearms, cannons, and swords to fight Lapu-lapu and his tribe which only
used used bolos and spears. The strength of resourcefulness propelled us to win
over Magellan's team. Right now, Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,
Filipinos' resourcefulness is currently being put to the test. Some Filipinos have
gone around constructing lovely face masks out of locally sourced materials. For
them, this becomes a source of money. Because the government's efforts and
actions are insufficient to combat Covid-19, this feature aids us in coping and
surviving.
CONCLUSION:
Antonio Pigafetta’s documentation is very important in the Philippine History. We may
not be able to know everything about the Philippines back then, but we are able to
picture out some situations of the Philippines and the people living in the country and
their way of living. And that concludes our vlog and historical journey for today. Hope
your learn something and put it deep within your heart. Thank you!
