For A: Tet holiday causes a lot of traffic accident
R: During Tet, people often go to each other's
houses to have fun, gather and eat. A lot of people
have too much fun, so they drink a lot of alcohol.
And after leaving, they could not control their
speed, even swerving on the road and leading to
tragic accidents afterwards.
E: According to Vnexpress, nearly 160 people were
killed in 17,345 road accidents during the first four
days of Tet 2022 (Lunar New Year), starting
January 29. The number of deaths from traffic
accidents increased sharply compared to normal
days.
Against A: Tet is a meaningful time for people who work
far from home to return home and reunite with
their loved ones.
R: Because throughout the year, they have to work
continuously, non-stop. They really don't get a
chance to meet their parents. So in my opinion,
Tet is a very precious time, and should not be
thrown away. It only lasted for about a week,
some people only had 3 days. Not only that, their
parents also just look forward to these days to
meet their children. They will take time to rest, to
have fun with their family after a year of hard
work.
R: You said that the number ò traffic accidents is
higher than usual.
C: I know what you mean.
C: However, in my opinion, participation and
good observance of traffic laws is the duty of
every citizen. If everyone raises awareness when
driving, there will be no traffic accidents not only
on Tet holiday but also normal days. Therefore,
we can't blame Tet for poor human
consciousness.
R: You mentioned that “ People who work far
from home don’t have a chance to meet their
parents”
C: I don’t agree with that point.
C: Today, technology develops. everyone has a
smartphone, they can video call their parents
easily. Not only that, they can spend time back
home through big holidays during the year; for
exp: Reunification day (April 30th), Nationtal day
(Sep 2nd), etc. In addition, companies now have
policies on vacation days. So in my opinion
people who work away from home can still take
advantage of these days to return home to visit
their parents instead of Tet holiday.
