Business Groups
Eaton's emergence as a premier industrial company shows that we're not afraid of making tough
decisions or changing the game. Now a diversified, integrated operating company, our sales and
revenue come from:
Electrical Sector
The Electrical Sector is a global leader in power distribution, power quality, industrial
automation and power control products and services. Products include circuit breakers,
switchgear, UPS systems, power distribution units, panelboards, loadcenters, motor controls,
meters, sensors, relays and inverters. The principal markets for the Electrical Americas and
Electrical Rest of World segments are industrial, institutional, government, utility, commercial,
residential, information technology and original equipment manufacturer customers.
Industrial Sector
Hydraulics Group
Eaton is a leading manufacturer of systems and components for use in mobile and industrial
applications. Markets include agriculture, construction, mining, forestry, utility, material
handling, machine tools, molding, power generation, primary metals, and oil and gas. The
Hydraulics group also includes Eaton's Filtration, Golf Grip and Airflex industrial clutch and
brake businesses.
Aerospace Group
In the aerospace industry, Eaton is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and marketing
of a comprehensive line of reliable, high-efficiency systems and components for hydraulic,
motion control and fuel applications.
Vehicle Group
The Vehicle Group is comprised of the company's truck and automotive segments.
The truck segment is a global leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of powertrain
systems and other components for commercial vehicle markets. Key products include manual
and automated transmissions, clutches, hybrid power and emission treatment systems.
Eaton’s automotive segment produces key products such as superchargers, engine valves, valve
train components, cylinder heads, locking and limited-slip differentials, fuel, emissions, and
safety controls, transmission and engine controls, spoilers, exterior moldings, plastic
components, and fluid connectors.
MIE needed six cylinders to be delivered in just seven months to meet construction deadlines.
Eaton partnered with Industrial Technology Company (Inteco), a mechanical integrator based in
Hanoi, to supply the products needed by the hydropower plant.
Inteco and Eaton personnel worked side by side to put together a value-added proposal that
covered every aspect of cylinder, pump, and valve supply, plus onsite cylinder installation
assistance and hydraulic system startup. Eaton’s sales manager also stressed the Eindhoven,
Netherlands facility’s engineering strengths in custom cylinder delivery around the world.
Eaton and Inteco beat out three competitive hydraulic component suppliers to earn MIE’s
business. Among key reasons were the commitment of the Eaton Eindhoven plant to meet
stringent delivery requirements and Eaton and Inteco’s close working relationship. Eaton
products were delivered on-time and the Hydropower Plant was officially inaugurated on July
13, 2010 by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. Currently, the Electricity of Vietnam
plant is providing electric power to 1 million people.
Manufacturing Facility
To manage the power distribution system in its 400,000 square-foot manufacturing operation, a
long time Eaton customer recognized that in order to achieve further power usage reductions,
they would require a system capable of managing and monitoring usage as well as transforming
data into information for management decisions and cost projections.
The company’s goal was to identify the exact of amount of power that each plant operation used.
It also wanted a system that would enable it to determine if installing new equipment would
provide substantial energy savings. In addition, it saw the need for a system that would provide
trending with time-specific documentation of power anomalies. After learning the specific
objectives of the customer’s power monitoring and reduction initiative, Eaton proposed that the
company become a site for its Power Xpert Software, Foreseer Class product.
In the two years that Power Xpert has been operational at the plant, it has helped the company
determine if the addition of new equipment into its system will provide substantial power
savings. The spokesperson reports, “With Power Xpert, we have the ability to see what is
happening in real time as well as access historical information regarding power usage. That has
given us the ability to make the decisions and take the steps required to reduce our power usage
and achieve cost savings.”
Eaton demonstrated to the customer that the recommend bag filtration system could produce the
same or better quality water than the existing cartridge filtration. Thanks to the now-reduced
production costs, the new MAXILINE Filter Housings will have paid for themselves within
eighteen months.
Aftermarket
Your truck is manufactured with approved, quality parts. Is there any reason why you wouldn't
use the same quality for your service replacement parts?
Eaton and Fuller parts are certified to meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer's (OEM)
specifications and are made with quality materials for longer life. In short, they:
Save money
Reduce downtime
Lower operating costs
Provide smooth drivetrain operation
Forging
It's no secret that today's competitive world demands competitive partners. Partners with the
technology, commitment and capacity to meet your needs. Eaton's Forge Team has the
capabilities to be your forging technology partner for flashless, close tolerance and warm
forgings.
From product design to delivered product, Eaton adds value every step of the way. Using the
latest technology, our on-staff design engineers review each print to assure the most cost-
effective manufacturing process for your family of products.
Each production team is supported by Six Sigma Black and Green Belt quality experts as well as
the machinist who will be producing your job for a unique team commitment to a cost-effective,
precision-formed forging.
Hybrid power is particularly appealing for Class 6, 7 and 8 vehicles, especially in stop-and-go
applications. Also see the available Federal tax credits for hybrid-power commercial vehicle
Diagnostic Tools
Help Eliminate Truck Vibration Problems
Service technicians can eliminate excessive labor charges and unnecessary part changes with
Eaton’s drivetrain vibration diagnostic tools.
Basic Drivetrain Vibration Analyzer (DVA) - Designed specifically for use by technicians on
the shop floor. The DVA Basic will pinpoint the root cause of a vibration, isolate the location of
the problem, and supply a suggested repair procedure.
Driveline Angle Analyzer (DAA) tool kit - An easy-to-use diagnostic system that allows the
technician to measure, diagnose and correct driveline angle problems that cause torsional
vibrations between the transmission and front and rear drive axles.
Service Ranger - For Original Equipment (OE) dealers... supports all new and existing
Roadranger automated transmission products.
Biodiesel Manufacturers
With standards for biodiesel getting tighter than ever, the filters that remove storage tank
impurities from fuel must improve filtration efficiency and reduce costs at the same time.
The biodiesel filtration process involved expensive, jumbo cartridges that were extremely heavy
and difficult to remove. Operators were not able to position themselves for safe and easy removal
of dirty cartridges, and had to change the cartridges several times to filter a single batch. A filter
system for modern biodiesel manufacturers must be safer and easier to operate, while still
achieving quality filtration.
The trailer mounted Eaton QIC LOCK™ MAXILINE™ Filter fit the bill, with a quick opening
cover and low profile design that offers improved operational and safety advantages. The Eaton
Filter Housing handles an entire 900,000 gallon batch of biodiesel without having to change
filters.
As biodiesel manufacturers begin to increase production, Eaton’s new HAYFLOW™ Filter
Element will provide even longer service life for larger batches of biodiesel.
Cutter & Buck was forced to review its uninterruptible power system (UPS) requirements after
suffering two product failures. Evaluating its organizational growth and increasing server
requirements, Cutter & Buck selected Eaton’s new Powerware BladeUPS. It was the ideal
solution, as it was easy to install, does not require any third party service or maintenance, and
can grow with the company’s data center requirements as time goes on.
Software and connectivity features also played an important role in the UPS selection process.
When configured into a system, the Powerware BladeUPS modules behave as one, with
monitoring and management functionality delivered via a standard SNMP/Web connection. The
Powerware BladeUPS has given Cutter & Buck increased confidence and improved reliability
and availability for its power system. The modular design enabled the company to deploy the
right amount of backup protection at the right price for their current needs with potential to
expand in the future.
