GREEN HRM

INTRODUCTION
Green Human Resource Management (Green HRM) is a research field that encompasses all
elements and practises of human resource management that aim towards environmental
sustainability. The goal is to harmonise business and societal goals without compromising
company’s aim. When it comes to creating enterprises in an environmentally sustainable
manner, green HRM has become an important applied subject of research. Green HRM
provides the chance to accompany and promote long-term changes in workers' mindsets and
behaviours, which are required for environmental transformation in the firm as a whole.
Ecological sustainability is important from an economic standpoint since it reduces
organisational expenses, boosts employee engagement, and opens up new markets.
ANALYSIS OF GREEN HRM
Today, the demand for green human resource management is critical for people all around the
world. Each person's ecological consciousness determines their way of life and the
environment in which they live. Employees in general are interested in green human resource
management since it is relevant and necessary in today's workplace. Many repercussions have
an impact on our personal and professional lives. The business world is the most important in
improving environmental challenges, and the corporate world must provide solutions to these
dangers. Green management efforts are becoming increasingly significant in forward-
thinking corporate houses across the world. Green HR initiatives assist businesses in finding
alternate methods to save costs without losing top personnel; for example, furloughs, part-
time work, and so on. Strategic Green HRM — the incorporation of environmental
management into HRM – is becoming increasingly important. HR specialists said that
encouraging workers to be more environmentally friendly in the workplace was the most
effective approach in their firms. Businesses are encouraging their employees to do things
like double-sided photocopying, switching down laptops after sometime of inactivity, using
energy effective bulbs for table lamps, lowering down the blinds in summers to save energy,
and also donating and discounting the used office furniture or supplies to the employees or a
local charity. Companies are now a days utilising EMS (Environmental Management System)
as a strategic tool to obtain a competitive edge. This technique allows for more control over a
company's environmental effect. Commitment, policy, planning, execution, measurement and
evaluation, review and improvement of HR systems that align with the organization's culture
and long-term goals are all part of it.

 It may be utilised to improve public relations if an organisation implements a green
project in the workplace.
It is conceivable to infer that businesses may enhance their environmental performance in a
more sustainable way by understanding and expanding the scope and depth of green HRM
practises. Green HRM practises are more effective instruments for making organisations and
their activities more environmentally friendly. Human resources' green performance, green
behaviours, green attitudes, and green competencies may be developed and transformed by
using green HRM strategies. As a result, we believe that organisations should prioritise
making each HRM function green.
