OBJECTIVE

Collect water from two different water bodies around you and study them for pH.
16 COMPREHENSIVE BIOLOGY ACTIVITIES VOL

REQUIREMENTS
Water samples from two different sites such as pond water, tap water, tube well water, river/canal water
etc., test tubes, pH papers.

PROCEDURE
Take different water
samples in different test tubes.
water samples. Match the colour of Dip a small piece of broad range pH paper in each
the pH paper with the colour scale of the
approximate pH. For more accurate value, take piece of narrow given on the pH paper booklet. This gives an
range of pH paper and dip them range of pH paper of the value indicated
seperately in the water by broad
given on the pH paper booklet. This will give the correct samples. Match the colour of the
paper with the pH scale
value of the pH
of water samples.
OBSERVATIONS
Record the pH of different water
samples in the observation table.
