Date: March 30 Lesson: Health Unit Assessment

Guiding Question:
Summative assessment in Grade 1
Observation Notes:
-planned assessments based on previous experience and feedback
-added pictures, used “front-loading” for expectations during the
assignment
-used cues (thumbs up) to check in when students are ready to move on
-spoke slowly and clearly and repeated a few times
-students were very engaged during cutting and gluing activity
-good strategy to skip the questions that students were confused about and
come back to it
-true/false seemed a bit harder for them – curious to see results
- it could be the questions and vocabulary, but also the format (true/false,
multiple choice, etc.)
- I will show you some examples I have made for assessing these core
subjects
- think of it as a snapshot, rather than a comprehensive review
-even the outcome says “determine, with support”…….
-my other suggestion would be to save different assessments for different
days. I know this is hard when you only have health once a week
Follow up Questions:
-Did the lesson/assessment go as you had planned?
-If you were to re-teach the lesson, what would you do differently?
- you already made changes to help the assessment become more
successful – would you change anything else for next time?
