Georgia Merk Teaching Philosophy 2022

To outline my current education teaching philosophy, I believe students and teachers should

foster wonderful connections to be able to both be active participants in the learning process in a

classroom. As a teacher, I want to be able to have a safe space for students to come and learn and

also feel comfortable. A classroom should be ready and able to differentiate for many different

student needs, and be able to uphold built in organization and management techniques that are

put in place at the start of a year.

I believe the key to a successful educator is having experience in a variety of assessment

techniques, versed in many subjects and having many strategies to manage a classroom

effectively.

When I think about my physical education philosophy, I consider the words fun, physical

literacy, mental health, nutrition, and challenges to be the main components. I envision fostering

a feeling associated with physical education within my students of wanting to be active based on

the positive effects that result. I think that physical literacy and knowledge of the benefits of a

healthy based lifestyle from exercise and food are amazing tools to grow into using everyday as

you get older. I believe another main contributor to physical education is finding your own

passion for what activity you love and thrive in, and on the opposite of that, being able to show

students who are uninterested in certain units of physical education that those areas can be areas

of growth, and always a great way to try something new.
