Function

500 Coolant motor

– To cool the switch cabinet 300, the coolant (water with anti-freeze and corrosion protection agent)
flows through channels and lines of electrical cabinet.
– It is pumped by the coolant pump 500 through these channels and lines. The water pump 500 is
above the electrical cabinet and runs once the ignition is switched on.
– The THD transformer, inverted rectifier and rectifier are cooled in the electric cabinet and
monitored by three sensors.
– If the temperature of the cooling water rises over 10 °C, fan 1200 is turned on.

Function

– Via connections K on the control valve blocks 5100 and 5200, the hydraulic oil is passed to the
hydraulic oil cooler 3170 for cooling.
– There, heat from the hydraulic oil is dissipated in the hydraulic oil cooler before it flows back to the
hydraulic tank 1500.
– In case of an increasing volumetric flow rate (increased hydraulic oil return quantity) in the control
valve blocks 5100 and 5200, the pressure of hydraulic oil increases.
– As a result, the preload valves installed in the control valve blocks open.
– The hydraulic oil thus flows over the connections T on the control valve blocks directly to the
hydraulic tank 1500 to prevent backflow of hydraulic oil.

Note!
For more information on the preload valves, see Chapter 080 in the service manual.

– To keep the nitrogen in the energy recuperation cylinder in an operating temperature range
between 50 °C and 55 °C, the energy recuperation cylinder must be cooled or heated.
– The coolant is pumped through the heat exchanger on the energy recuperation cylinder.
– Depending on the temperature, the cylinder is either heated by water heater 150 or cooled by
radiator 9520.
– The cooling is controlled by the thermostat attached to the valve unit 9510.

Servicemanual Fan drive
Adjustment

3161 Rotary group Y602 Proportional solenoid valve / fan

3162 Suction valves

– The hydraulic fan drive limits the maximum operating temperature of various operating media. The
fan drive is thermostatically monitored and electronically controlled.
– The fan drive cools the following operating media, such as hydraulic oil, gear oil of the pumps and
distributor gear unit and the coolant of the energy recuperation cylinder.
– Each operating medium flows through the fins of separate cooling elements in the cooling unit.
– The fan drive generates an air flow through the fins. The cooling rate of operating medium
therefore depends on fan speed and ambient temperature.
– Depending on the hydraulic temperature, the speed of the fan motor 3160 is controlled
proportionally via the proportional solenoid valve Y602.
– Between minimum and maximum values, the control current of proportional solenoid valve Y602
behaves linearly.
– Each intermediate temperature corresponds to a specific current and pressure. This corresponds
to a specific fan speed. The control mechanism opens / closes the proportional solenoid valve
Y602.
– The more the proportional solenoid valve Y602 is opened, the less hydraulic oil flows to the rotary
group 3261 and the lower the fan speed.
– The excess volume of the rotary group 3161 returns to the hydraulic tank.

3 Adjustment

Note!
For the setting of fan drive, see adjustment in Chapter 030.

Function

2.3 Fan drive reversing function

Note!
The function of fan 1 is described below.

Connection and safety components:

– Hydraulic oil from fan pump 3100 flows through connection P in valve block / reverse fan drive
3180. Proportional solenoid valve / fan Y602 on fan pump 3100 controls the amount of conveyed
hydraulic oil and thus the speed of fan in normal operation and in opposite direction (reversing).
– The primary pressure relief valve 3181 protects the oil pressure at connection P against excess
pressure.
– Hydraulic oil of motor unit 3160 flows through connection A of valve block / reverse fan drive 3180
back to the tank.
– Suction valve 3182 prevents negative pressure in the line at connection P, through suction out of
return line to connection T. Negative pressure in the line is created, for example, when fan speed
is reduced or diesel engine is shut off.
Fan rotates in normal operation:
– Solenoid valve / fan stop Y621 is not energised.
– Solenoid valve / reverse fan Y622 is not energised.
– Proportional solenoid valve / fan Y602 is energised to varying degree, depending on needs. Fan
pump 3100 transports hydraulic oil quantity for fan speed in normal operation.
– Hydraulic oil from connection P flows through solenoid valve Y612 to connection A.
– Hydraulic oil from connection P flows in the circuit of solenoid valve Y622 through solenoid valve
Y621 back to solenoid valve Y622.
– Hydraulic oil from connection B flows through solenoid valve Y622 to connection T.
– Hydraulic oil from connection B flows in the circuit of solenoid valve Y622 through solenoid valve
Y621 back to solenoid valve Y622.
– Fan 1 rotates in normal operation.
Fan switches to standstill:
– Proportional solenoid valve / fan Y602 is energised with maximum current. Fan pump 3100
swivels back and transports minimal amount of hydraulic oil. Fan speed is reduced.
– Solenoid valve / fan stop Y621 is energised and switches.
– Solenoid valve / reverse fan Y622 is not energised.
– Hydraulic oil from connection P flows through solenoid valve Y622 to connection A.
– The energised solenoid valve Y621 connects the circuits to each other.
– Hydraulic oil from connection B flows through solenoid valve Y612 and through switched solenoid
valve Y621 to connection A
Hydraulic oil from connection B flows through switched solenoid valve Y621 against connection P.
– Fan continues to rotate until it stops.
Fan rotates in opposite direction (reversing):
– Solenoid valve / fan stop Y621 is energised and switched.
– Solenoid valve / reverse fan Y622 is energised and switches.
LHB/en/Edition: 12/2017

– Proportional solenoid valve / fan Y602 is energised. Fan pump 3100 transports hydraulic oil
quantity for fan speed in reverse operation.
– By switching solenoid valves Y621 and Y622, the circuits are separated again. The hydraulic oil
flows in opposite direction.
– Hydraulic oil from connection P flows through switched solenoid valve Y622 to connection B.
– Hydraulic oil from connection P flows in the circuit of solenoid valve Y622 through solenoid valve
Y621 back to solenoid valve Y622.
– Hydraulic oil from connection A flows through solenoid valve Y622 to connection T.
