1. Discuss the implications of the perceived influence of the foreign people in our cognitive and socio-
emotional Filipino identity. Identify facts/concepts that we Filipinos think of ourselves. How did it affect
the way we live and think?

2. Choose three (3) current issues from the newspaper, radio, internet or TV that associates the social
condition of the Philippines during the earlier time of the colonization and the relation of it in
recent/current time. Discuss why and how it happened.

Traditionally Filipino's have a hospitality attitude with the foreigners. Presently there are many
nationality or foreigners living in the Philippines and the most patriotic nation's in the land are
Americans, Chinese, Korean and Japanesse. Most of the patriotic nations foreigners influence the
traditions, socio economic, technology, fashions, religions, habbits and attitude/character of most of the
Filipinos.In Tradition, to the Filipinos became differently such accepting or adding holidays in the
Calendar date for an instance "Chinesse New Year". For the Socio-economic and Fashions the
implications for the Filipinos, the dress style or suit in normal days are now different last 20 years ago.
Technology, the implications of the foreigners in the Philippines create a big evolution which as of now
the technology in the Philippines are in high end and most of technical specification of the technology
are came from the high standard of Foregin countries. Atittude/Character implication by the foreiengers
create a different values such most of the Filipino as now are learning not to be late in their duties, to be
a businessman rather than to be an employee which change the the mind set of each Filipinos. Religion,
most foreigner influence the Filipino believes which convert from Catholic to other foreign sectors.

2. Historically the Republic of the Philippines was colonized in the following Nation in different era:

- Spanish Rule (1521-1898)

- American Rule (1898-1946)

- Japanese Occupation (1941-1946)

Currently there was 3 issues and Topic in the Philippines with relation during the Colonization.

(1) Filipino bishops call for prayers as Pope Francis recovery after colon surgery.

* Last July 05, 2021, via abs-cbn news, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has
called the Filipino people to pray for Pope Francis who is still recuperating in a hospital in Rome
following colon surgery. The Philippines is a Roman Catholic country such anything happen to the
Vatican city and to the official of Roman Catholic specially the Pope filipinos are actively affected to all
issues. The reason behind Filipino peopole are most catholic religion and affection with issues because
during the time of Spanish Colony since last 15th century where the spaniard start to babtized all the
Fililpinos. Presently 79.53% in the Philippines are in the belief on the Catholic Church.

(2) President Duterte to Senator "finds what wrong with"

*Septemeber 11, 2021 via ABS-CBN news, President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to "finds what
wrong with" senators looking into alleged overpricing in the government's pandemic response deals,
which he insisted was legal. Senate is a branch of government which creating the rule and passing the
laws to be implemented. Ever since there are always contradiction and different interpetation of using
the rule of law between the Senate and Office of the President. This has a relation since the colonization
which heirs at recent time. During the spanish colony there are many group start to form the Goverment
of the Philippines that one of the Famous is KKK " Kataastaan Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga
Anak ng Bayan" founder by Andress Bonifacio, which many leader from the different area was
unsupported to his leadership. Also at the same era, the First President of the Philippines was Emilio
Aguinaldo and many branch of the goverment officials being construct was not agree to the President or
Leader of the country in the Philippines. As of now, The Republic of the Philippines many branch of the
Government was not supporting the President which the same and related to the old Era.

(3) US says 'gratified' over Duterte decision to continue military pact.

*Septemeber 10, 2021 via ABS-CBN news, The United States on Thursday conveyed its appreciation for
the Philippines decision to continue the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA), a military pact earlier ordered
terminated by President Rodrigo Duterte. The VFA provides legal framework under which US troops can
operate on a rotational basis in the Philippines. Experts say without it, other bilateral agreements. In
relation to the colonization, Philippine-American war was at year 1898-1946. During the time of the era,
the Japanese war start at 1941 which start ruling the Philippine government. However during the
Japenese war, American military start to reconcilled and join to fight against the Japenese imperior. In
the time colinization the joint military stategy and training start between the Philippine -American
soldiers. As of now the relation between the two countries was still binded and the friendship is
stronger as a brother of Asian Nation.
