PRE-PLAN: The social Management Department


,the faculty IN charge had informed us about

the virtual visit to the NGO and also gave us a

brief introduction about the NGO.

ORIENTATION :The NGO was inaugurated in


1947 and since then has created a social impact

while working for social, sexual and reproductive

heath and rights.

The organization is registered under the

Societies Registration Act.


The organization promotes reproductive choices ,

legal and safe abortion, education about sexually

transmitted diseases and sexual and reproductive

health. The organization provides its services

across 18 states in India and the Founder of FPA is

Avabai Dessai.

PROCESS AND OBSERVATION: The NGO visit


was virtual and was handled by the General

Manager, MS. Renu Kapoor .The visit with the

overview of the organization , its achievements

and their objectives to bring a social change. We

understood about their mission and vision and

their nature of work.

Since the noble initiative the FPA, has exposed

their Family Planning Program for holistic sexual

and reproductive program as a right. They

introduce adolescents friendly health care and

created awareness about the diseases that are

sexually transmitted. During 2020, the tough times

of pandemic the organization introduced and

integrated covid19 screening and also tele-

counselling and tele- medicine.


The General Manager took us through the

major interventions by the organisation and

explained the methods of their working,

briefly introduced us their strategies and

accomplishments.

The NGO also conducted various outreach

programs in Rural and Urban areas, based on

their requirements and necessities .Outreach

clinics , skill development programmes , Youth

involvement and awareness programmes are

few interventions initiated in the urban areas .

In the rural areas , the organisation co-

ordinated with local leaders , SHGs and IKPs

to provide their services.

The organisation also conducts various

programmes targetting the Youth population

to create awareness about sexual and

reproductive hygiene and to reduce the

amount of sexually transmitting diseases and

letting people know their rights and services

that are legally provided.


CRITICAL SELF - EDUCATION: Through this visit ,
I've gained practical knowledge of how and

organization works , a brief understanding of

management of an NGO. I understood about the

overview of the organization, their future plans

strategies and their objectives to educate and

create awareness about sexual hygiene , family

planning and reproductive choices.

ROLE OF SOCIAL WORK: General Manager and


Educator.

SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES USED : The manager


made use of Power Point Presentations to

explain the details and nature of work of the

organisation . Later the platform was open for

questions , which were addressed by the

manager of the organization.

CONCLUSION: The interaction with the NGO

,enlightened me with various legally provided

rights sexual hygiene and measures and

techniques that are used by the NGO to reduce

the problem. The visit was an enriching

experience .
