Driver’s License
Driver’s License
● A document issued to a qualified driver
who possess the statutory qualification
as provided therefore
● It is a public document which has the
legal presumption of genuinness
Duty to Procure

● Sec. 19 of RA 4136 states that no


person shall operate any motor vehicle
without first procuring a license to drive
for the current year
Confiscation of DL

● Sec. 29 of RA 4136 mandates that a DL


may be confiscated for violations of RA
4136, the rules and regulations issued by
the Commissioner and of local traffic
rules and regulations
Types of License

● International DL
● Military DL
● Professional DL
● Non-Professional DL
● Student Permit
Validity of License

● Student Permit
➢ 12 months or one year
● Professional/Non-Professional
➢ 5 years as per RA 10930 and LTO AO
No. 2016-034
● International DL
➢ 90 days but can be renewed
Conductor’s License

● Conductors of PUVs are also mandated


to procure their licenses from the LTO
Driver’s Examination

● Non-Professional – 30 out of 40
questions
● Professional – 45 out of 60 questions

6 – Articulated Vehicle 1600 kgs GVW & below
7 – Articulated Vehicle 1601 up to 4500 kgs GVW
8 – Articulated vehicle 4501 kgs above GVW
Driver’s Condition
A – Wear eye glasses
B – drive only with special equipment for upper
limbs
C - drive only with special equipment for lower
limbs
D – daylight driving only
E – accompanied by a person with normal hearing
