TB4 Consultancy

Dear Ms Joseph

I would like to apply for the position of Trainee Political Consultant recently
advertised on the UCL Careers vacancy board. I have just completed a three-year
master’s course in European Political Economy at University College London (UCL).

As you can see from my enclosed CV, during my undergraduate degree at the
University of Warwick, I gained valuable experience as a finance analyst with ADA
in Luxembourg, and I also did a student work placement at DuPont de Nemours. At
ADA, one of my key achievements was an analysis of how micro-finance institutions
are changing, which I wrote up as a 60-page report. At ADA I also had the chance to
develop my translation and editing skills, especially in my work on ADA’s
bibliography database. At DuPont de Nemours I also helped create new databases for
the Energy department, which involved working closely together with colleagues to
determine what to include. As well as these qualities, my undergraduate studies have
also developed my skills in researching a topic, making presentations, writing reports
and analysing data.

One of the main reasons for choosing Political Consultancy as a career is that I
believe knowledge of Political Economy and International Business can help
organisations and public interest groups choose the strategies that best advance their
causes. The opportunity to work with a variety of different organisations that provide
public service also appeals to me. My reasons for applying to TB4 are as follows:
First, the range of clients TB4 works with is considerably broader than many of the
other major IT consultancy firms that I have been researching. I recently read an
article on www.top-consultant.com about the crucial role political consultants play in
shaping the image of strategy of candidates who stand for election, an area I am very
interested in. Secondly, having attended your recent presentation at UCL and having
spoken with Jim Bowen, I was impressed by the enthusiasm with which he talked
about his work and the many opportunities at TB4 for ambitious graduates.

I am very excited about this opportunity and look forward to discussing my

application with you in greater detail. Should you require any further information,
please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours sincerely,

Pedro Scaron
