GOD’S STORY

THE PREISTLY ROLE (Hebrews 5:1-6)

Every High priest is taken from among the mortals and appointed to be their representative before God to offer gifts and
sacrifices for sin. He is able to understand the ignorant and erring for he himself is subject to weakness. That is why he is bound to
offer to sacrifices for his sins as well as for the sins of the people. Besides, one does not presume to take this diginity, but takes it only
when called by God, as Aaron was.
Nor did Christ become High Priest in taking upon himself this dignity, but it was given to him by the One who says: You are my
son, I have begotten you today. And in another place: You are a priest forever in the preistly order of Melchizedek.

THE KINGLY ROLE (Mark 10:42-44)

Jesus then called them to him and said, “ as you know, the so-called rulers of the nations behave like tyrants, and those in
authority oppress the people. But it shall not be so among you; whoever woul be great among you must be your servant, and whoever
would be first among you shall make himself slave of all.”

THE PROPHETIC ROLE (Matthew 28:18-20)

Then jesus approach them and said, “all authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make
disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all that
I have commanded you. I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”

From the readings, we discover that Jesus delegates His priestly, prophetic, and kingly roles to the members of
the church.
We believe
The Lord Jesus filled with the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father to etablishe the Kingdom of God here on earth.
This was carried out by Jesus through His three-fold mission as preist, prophet and king. Being the members pf the church, we are
expected to participate in these three offices and bear the responsibilities for the mission and service that flow from them. (cf CCC
783).
“As a Priestly People, we Christians offer spiritual worship for the glory of God and salvation of men” (cf. LG 34). We, the new people of
God, are mediators between God and people. Through this, we make other people enter into relationship with God. We need to bring
Jesus to others, and we need to bring others to Jesus.
“ As a Prophetic People, we give witness to Christ by understanding of the faith and the grace of speech, so that the power of
Gospel may shine out in daily social family and life”(cf.LG 35). We, the new people of God are tasked to proclaim the Word of God

through preaching and doing it the wayJesus did. We, as prophets, must do what we teach. Thus, we the members of the church, must
communicate God’s Word to others by the testimony of our lives.
“Lastly, as Kingly People, we bring our brethren to Jesus by serving whom is to reign. We work to overcome sin and to permeateall with
the values of Christ. To be king is to minister and to serve”. (PCP II 121). We, the new people of God, have been vested with the
authority to serve the “lost, least, and last” for, in them we recognize Jesus who made Himself the servant for all, fo He came not to be
served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
The Church is tasked to partcipate in the three-fold role of Jesus as priest, prophet, and king.
As a young baptized members of the community he founded, you can already share in the Church’s duties.
To be able to perform those obligations, you need to take the following ABC roles:

We LIVE A gents of service (as Kingly People)

You are instrument of God by showing His love to others by your willingness to serve them.
Example: In school you can help by cleaning the classroom before going home or assist your teachers in bringing their things.
In your home, by being obedient to your parents’ rules you can show your service to them. You can do household chores like washing
your dihes or fixing your own bed. This little acts of sacrifice are your ways of giving back to God the sevice He did for all of us.

B earers of the lord’s presence (as priestly People)

You are duty-bound to communicate God’s love to others by radiating His presence in your daily life. You can do this by doing simple
acts of love toward God and others.
Example: In the school, you can visit the chapel and pray there alone or you can encourage others to do the same. This little acts of
mediation between God and your loved ones make them closer ot God.
In your home, you can have bible sharing in with your family.

C ommunicators of Good News (as Prophetic People)

As a little prophet, you are expected to say nice words to others. Your words of appreciation can motivate them to do better in their
work.
Example: In the school and at home, you need to tell the truth. You can sedn biblical messages to your friends through cell phones or
messenger or post them in facebook. Use the modern technology to communicate the Good news, the Word of God.
